Claims (5)

AT 41 0 080 B The invention relates to a cigarette ash extraction system for motor vehicles with a suction fan, a non-flammable collecting container and a suction pipe. Such a cigarette ash suction device is known from WO 92/05715 A1. It is proposed to either switch on the suction fan manually by means of a switch on the dashboard or to switch it on automatically by means of a microswitch arranged on the ashtray. After each actuation of the lid of the ashtray, the suction fan would automatically suck off the remnants of the cigarettes that came into the ashtray, and a photocell arranged on the inside of the lid could also be provided to switch on the suction fan. The disadvantage resulting from this prior art lies in the distracting handling of the lid of the ashtray during the journey. It is still necessary to manually open the ashtray before using the ashtray to activate the suction fan. The invention is therefore based on the object of eliminating this problem and simplifying the disposal of the cigarette residues as possible without having to handle the ashtray while driving and still not having to accept unpleasant smells of cigarette residues in the passenger compartment. The invention solves this problem by a motion sensor activating the suction fan. The motion sensor ensures that all cigarette residues are immediately transported from the area of the passenger compartment to the collection container without the driver having to make a distracting movement. If the motion sensor is located at the mouth of the suction pipe, the driver can leave the ashtray open while driving and the ash or cigarette butt will be removed immediately, even if the suction pipe opens into the ashtray. Such automatic switching on of the suction fan can be ensured by a light barrier or an infrared sensor. However, the motion sensor can also be provided at the mouth of the suction pipe if the suction pipe is attached directly to the dashboard without an ashtray and has a cigarette holder. In the drawing, the subject of the invention is shown schematically, for example. Fig. 1 shows a cigarette ash extraction system according to the invention with a cigarette holder 3 for mounting by means of flange 9 on the dashboard. According to FIG. 1, as soon as a cigarette 10 approaches the mouth 1 and thus the movement sensor 2, a suction fan 8 with a filter 7 is activated. Due to the resulting air suction, a non-return flap 5 is opened and the cigarette ash or cigarette butt is conveyed through a suction pipe 4 into a non-flammable, exchangeable collecting container 6, which is e.g. located in the engine compartment.
