<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
So z.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The invention relates to an ignition device for devices with a ignition hole for generating cannon blows (firecrackers) according to the features of claim 1, which is particularly suitable, for example, for use with muzzle-loading guns.
To produce cannon blows or bolls as a signal at folk festivals, histonic events or spectacles, more or less old guns, cannons, howitzers, mortars or replicas thereof are often used that work on the muzzle loading principle. At the end of the gun barrel, which is closed at the back, there is a hole at the top of the gun barrel, the ignition hole, through which the powdered charge is detonated. Similarly, guns with a pilot hole that work according to the rear-loading principle were fired.
For safety reasons, this type of ignition is officially prohibited in several countries.
The ignition process is therefore initiated today with an ignition cartridge. To this end, screw-in fitting pieces are provided, which in turn contain continuous, offset bores, the bores being adapted to the outer shape of the ignition cartridge, for.
B have recesses for the edge of the cartridge, or insertable pierced bolts, so-called pistons for cone cartridges. The components for the cartridges are intended to ensure a secure fit for them. The cartridges are generally ignited by a violent blow to the floor. A firing pin is used for this
In a known solution described in the book "Bötterschiessen, Brauchtum und Historie", author Wilhelm Klein, sole distributor Leopold Hartmann ISDN 3/926523/20/4, cartridge parts and percussion device for igniting the cartridge are combined to form an ignition device.
It consists of a cylindrical piece of iron of about 12 cm in length, which is frustoconical at its lower end and contains a threaded shoulder matching an internal thread in the ignition hole. The cylindrical piece of iron contains a stepped bore that runs through to the truncated cone and the thread. It also has a recess in the side wall, which enables access for loading to the fitting for the ignition cartridge in the truncated cone. Furthermore, a spring-loaded impact anchor with firing pin is accommodated in the cylinder piece and is held in the ignition position by a trigger pin which is arranged radially and penetrates the side wall.
The impact anchor is released by pulling on the trigger pin with the help of a cord, which then strikes the ignition cartridge with spring force and causes it to ignite. Depending on the thread length of the ignition hole and the thread attachment of the ignition device, the radially arranged trigger pin is not aligned with the gun barrel. When firing, the gun barrel can be moved sideways depending on the weight of the device. The ignition device can only be loaded with the spring under tension, which can entail the risk that the trigger pin is pulled out of its position by the loading manipulation and leads to undesired dangers. Furthermore, the vertically arranged known ignition device reduces the aesthetic impression, it acts like a foreign body on an ancient gun.
From DE 23 34 166 A an ignition device for devices with a pilot hole for generating cannon blows is known. In the known device, the holding and striking piece are not articulated to one another. It is not recognizable whether the striking piece is in the tensioned state. This is associated with a safety risk. An increasing force must also be applied to trigger the ignition device by pulling back a roller. This can lead to undesired adjustment of the cannon.
DE 35 24 080 A1 discloses an igniter for a warhead. The igniter is triggered when the warhead strikes.
A hand grenade detonator is also known from DE 20 31 412 A. The striking piece is held under tension by a bracket. The bracket obscures the view of the detonator. Thus, the state of charge of the ignition device cannot be easily checked. This ignition device can also not be operated by pulling out a trigger part.
The object of the invention is to eliminate the aforementioned disadvantages, i. h produce an ignition device that can be easily attached to the gun barrel in a desired position for triggering, especially since a low trigger force is required and yet has a relatively long trigger path compared to the known solution, so that loading is considerably less dangerous can take place. The triggering of the ignition device takes place, as is known, with the aid of a cord, which is available to the operating personnel
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
enables a prescribed safety distance from the device - generally 1 m and more - to be observed.
The flat design of the new ignition device does not diminish the aesthetic impression
The solution according to the invention results from the features specified in the main claim and the subclaims.
For a more detailed explanation, reference is made to the drawing, which shows
1 shows the new ignition device in a side view on the gun barrel,
2 is a top view of the ignition device screwed to the gun barrel,
3 shows a side view of the ignition device with triggering part and locking supports in the open, untensioned state.
Fig. 4 shows the new ignition device in a side view on the gun barrel in the open state.
Fig. 5 in side view of the ignition device with trigger member and locking pin in the open, untensioned state (loading position).
With 1 the holding piece is designated. It consists of a rectangular piece of steel strip or another refractory material with an edge length of about 9 x 2 cm. In the front area of the holding piece 1 there is an ignition cartridge fitting 2 consisting of a screw 3 with a stepped, continuous inner bore and an external thread which corresponds to the thread of the ignition hole 4 With the aid of the screw 3 mentioned and an elastic intermediate piece between the gun barrel 5 and the holding piece 1 , the holding piece 1 is attached to the gun barrel 5 and can be fastened in alignment with the gun barrel - as is usually desired - but also in any other angular position.
The dimensions of the stepped bore in the firing cartridge adapter 2 are matched to the firing cartridges, so that they receive a secure fit. In order to enable the use of different cartridges, the screw can be designed so that a fitting can be inserted into the screw hole, depending on the cartridge. So z. B. a so-called. Piston for cone cartridges.
At the other end of the holding piece 1, the striker 6 is articulated. The striker 6 consists of a cross-sectionally U-shaped metal piece with legs that are getting smaller and smaller, which in turn overlap the striker 6 in the region of the joint 8. The joint 8 is arranged such that the web of the U-shaped striker 6 overlaps the free end of the holding piece 1 and at an angle> 900 there is a gap 9 between the upper side of the holding piece 1 and the end edge of the striking piece 6. The holding piece 1 and the striking piece 6 thus form the legs of an angle. They are coupled to one another by a tension spring 10. As the angle increases, the tension spring 10 is tensioned.
When the spring 10 is relaxed, that is to say at a small angle, the striking piece 6 rests on the holding piece 1. In order to keep the striker 6 in a tensioned position, a U-shaped release part 11 made of round material is inserted into the striker 6, which rests in the corners, between the legs 7 and the web of the striker 6 and the free ends of the gap 9 reaches through.
A reduction in the angle between the holding piece 1 and the striking piece 6 is thus prevented.
To trigger the ignition device, the trigger part 11 is pulled out of the striking piece 6 with the aid of a cord, so that the striking piece 6 strikes the firing cartridge with firing pin 11 by the spring 10 and causes it to ignite. As can be seen, the triggering path in the new ignition device is relatively long and therefore safe.
In the described configuration of the trigger part 11, the ignition device is loaded when the tension spring is tensioned. When using a trigger part 11 with a locking piece 13 arranged thereon, for example locking pins 13, as shown in FIG. 3, the ignition device can be loaded in the relaxed state. The ignition device is tensioned by pulling on the triggering part 11 by increasing the angle. The spring 10 of the holding piece 1 is thereby tensioned between the holding piece 1 and the striking piece 6 and is pulled out of the striking piece 6 at an angle> 90 °. This strikes the striker 6 and strikes the firing pin 12 on the ignition cartridge.
The exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 4 and 5 shows a further solution for increasing the safety of the ignition device. In particular, the ignition device can be fixed to the gun barrel practically in any angular position relative to the gun barrel. In addition, a locking pin allows the ignition device to be loaded when the trigger part is inserted, and furthermore the tension spring for the ignition device is prevented from overstretching
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Ignition device on the gun barrel is a disc spring between the holding piece and gun barrel which is held by a fastening screw.
Furthermore, the triggering part consists of a strip of steel strip sliding in the striking piece which is cranked in such a way that it rests on the striking piece in its rear part and on the firing pin in its front part. The triggering part in turn is supported on a locking bolt attached to the holding piece. A further improvement of the ignition device is that the leg ends of the striking piece are connected to one another via a cross bolt which prevents the striking piece from opening further beyond the yield point of the tension spring.
In Fig. 4, 1 denotes the holding piece. It consists of a rectangular piece of steel strip or another refractory material with an edge length of approximately 9x2 cm. In the front area of the holding piece 1 there is an ignition cartridge fitting 2 consisting of a screw 3 made of stainless steel with a stepped continuous inner bore and an external thread which corresponds to the thread of the ignition hole 4.
With the help of the screw 3 mentioned, the holding piece 1 is fastened to the gun barrel 5 and can be aligned with the gun barrel 5 — as is usually desired — but also in any other angular position. Above the screw 3, a plate spring 14 is inserted between the holding piece 1 and the gun barrel 5 and screwed with a lock nut 15, whereby the fixation of the ignition device is ensured in any angular position to the gun barrel 5. The dimensions of the stepped bore in the firing cartridge adapter 2 are matched to the firing cartridges, so that they receive a secure fit. In order to enable the use of different cartridges, the screw can be designed so that, depending on the cartridge, a fitting piece can be inserted into the screw hole. B a so-called
Piston for cone cartridges.
At the other end of the holding piece 1, the striking piece 6 is articulated. The striker 6 consists of a cross-sectionally U-shaped metal piece with z. B legs are getting smaller and smaller towards the front, which in turn overlap the holding piece in the region of the joint 9. The joint 9 is arranged such that the web of the U-shaped striker 6 engages over the free end of the holding piece 1 and at an angle => 900 there is a gap between the top of the holding piece 1 and the end edge of the striking piece 6. The holding piece 1 and the striking piece 6 thus form the legs of an angle. They are coupled to one another by a tension spring 10. As the angle increases, the tension spring is tensioned. When the spring 10 is relaxed, that is to say at a small angle, the striking piece 6 rests on the holding piece 1.
In order to keep the striker 6 in a tensioned position, a cranked release part 11 made of flat material is inserted into the striker 6. The trigger part is z. B. in the corners between legs 7 and the web of the striking piece 6 and engages with its free end through the gap 9. Thus, a reduction in the angle between the holding piece and striking piece is prevented, as shown in Fig. 4.
By means of the locking pin 13 arranged in the striking piece 6, when the triggering part is pulled out of the gap and is then still in contact with the locking pin 13 and the web of the striking piece, a charging position can be established to trigger the ignition device pulled out, so that the striker 6 strikes the firing cartridge with firing pin 12 by the spring 10 and causes it to ignite. As can be seen, the triggering path in the new ignition device is relatively long and therefore safe. Furthermore, when the trigger part 11 is pulled out, the increasing spring tension is compensated for by increasing the effective lever of the trigger part 11.
As shown in FIG. 5 (charging position), the ignition device can be loaded in the relaxed state. The ignition device is always tensioned by pulling on the triggering part 11 by increasing the angle. By pulling on the triggering part, the spring 10 is tensioned and is pulled out of the impact piece at an angle> 900. This strikes the striker 6 and strikes the firing pin 12 on the ignition cartridge. The cartridge is automatically ejected when it is fired.
At the end of the striker 6, the two legs 7 are connected by the cross bolt 8.
The cross pin 8 prevents the angle between the striking piece 6 and the holding piece 1 from opening too wide and thus prevents the tension spring 10 from being stretched too far.
In conclusion, preferred possible uses are summarized again in tabular form, taking into account the respective, particularly recommendable, use condition (preloaded, untensioned) and the particular advantages of the ignition device claimed by the present application.
The igniter can be used in two different ways.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
1. Biased (especially recommended for smaller cannons):
The striking piece 6 is held in the release position by the securing part. After the safety part is pulled out, the striker 6 can snap forward and ignite the primer.
2. Unclamped (especially recommended for cannons over 10 kg):
Striker 6 is held in the safe loading position by the securing part and only tensioned by pulling the lanyard and released in a certain position, whereby the striker 6 can cause the primer to ignite.
Since the ignition device is only cocked when it is triggered, it is extremely safe and inadvertent firing is almost impossible
Advantages of the ignition device: a) Even lighter cannons cannot be pulled out of the direction due to the low trigger force during firing, which means that the safety area is kept and accidents are avoided. b) The device can be rotated through 360 and can therefore be removed from any location. c) The device is very flat, which means that the appearance of historical guns is preserved (striking piece can also be used with decorative plates, e.g.
Lion paw). d) With good access to the piston, the primer can be easily put on and taken off. e) Access to the ignition hole when the ignition device is screwed on, which is necessary when removing
Failure is important (use of cleaning needles). f) Constant release force even when the device is not under tension. g) Use of different primer types only by a slight change
Ignition channel screw and impact piece possible. h) When the shot is triggered, the safety part is completely from the
Ignition device separated, which in turn avoids a change in direction of the pipe just ignited (tearing not possible). i) Low load on the pilot hole thread due to small lifting force.
j) Simple, clear and maintenance-free ignition system, which is an inexpensive
Use of all commercially available primers permitted. k) The state of charge of the system is clearly visible.
I) Due to the long trigger travel, unintentional firing is largely avoided.
