Fig. 6) vorgesehen.

The invention relates to a device for connecting tubular components which abut one another with their end faces at a butt joint, with an annular body which overlaps the butt joint on both sides and is arranged in the tubular components. Such devices are known from US Pat. No. 4,783,188 A, US Pat. No. 3,662,642 and known from EP-279 987-A
EP 112 830 B discloses a connecting device for tubes of scaffolding, a pin being inserted into one of the tubes to be connected to one another and being fixed there by pressing. The part of the pin protruding over the pipe engages in the further pipe. This known connection of pipes is a simple plug-in connection that cannot be subjected to tension (see in particular FIGS. 4 and 6 of EP 112 830 B).
DE 35 46 045 A shows a similar connection of pipes that form frame parts of scaffolding
DE 35 46 045 A known pipe connection, a pin is provided, which is fixed in one of the pipes to be connected via this above in a press-on zone / which is formed by a plurality of impressions running in the direction of the longitudinal extension of the pipes. The spigot is simply inserted into the other tube. Here, too, there is a connection of the two tubes that can only be loaded under pressure, but not under tension, since the end of the spigot, which projects beyond the tube, is smooth and without profiling. Also, the pin according to DE 35 46 045 A cannot be radially elastically expanded and there is also no device for expanding the pin.
The invention has for its object to provide a connection of the type mentioned, which is at least predominantly, but preferably entirely in the interior of the tubular components, and their attachment and detachment is easy to carry out, the connection of the tubular components can also be resilient under tension should.
According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the ring body arranged in the region of the joint is elastically expandable, that the ring body has at least two projecting ribs on its outside, which engage in grooves in the inner surface of the abutting ends of the tubular components such that the ring body passes through a gap is open at one point, that a wedge device which can be actuated by a screw is provided at the open point as a device for expanding the ring body.
The device according to the invention for connecting is suitable for all types of tubular components, the term "tubular components" also being understood to mean those components which have only a tubular section and, moreover, have a shape deviating from a tube.
The only requirement that the device according to the invention can be used for connection is that the butt joint into which the two ends of the tubular components rest with their end faces is accessible so that the ring body can be inserted and the device for expanding the ring body can be actuated
The device for connecting according to the invention is primarily intended for tubular columns of signage systems, in particular object signage systems, wherein metal pipes, in particular aluminum pipes, can be used as tubular components.
In the device for connecting according to the invention, it is provided that the ring body has on its outside at least two projecting ribs which engage in grooves in the inner surface of the abutting ends of the tubular components, the device for expanding the ring body being a wedge device which can be actuated by a screw With With this device, the outer surface of the ring body can be pressed against the inner surface of the tubular components, whereby a firm, permanent connection of the tubular components is achieved.
It can be seen that the device according to the invention achieves the advantage that it lies in the interior of the tubular components, is therefore not visible from the outside and is also removed from the weather.
The inventive device for connecting is not limited to circular cross-sections of the tubular components, although it is preferred for circular cross-sections. In principle, however, any cross-sectional shapes (polygonal, round or combinations) are possible. It is sufficient if the ring body is adapted to the cross-sectional shape of the tubular components at the joint.
The connecting device according to the invention offers many design options, particularly in the case of signage without visible connections.
Preferred and advantageous embodiments of the connecting device according to the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.

Further details and features of the invention result from the following description of the exemplary embodiment of a connection according to the invention shown in the drawings
1 shows two pipe pieces which are connected to one another by a connection, FIGS. 2 and 3 show wedges of the clamping device of the ring body in two different views, FIG. 4 shows a plan view of the connected pipes from FIG. 1, FIG End of a tube, FIG. 6 an annular body in view and FIG. 7 the annular body of FIG. 6 seen from the side.
1 shows an application example of the connecting device according to the invention, in which two pipes 1 and 2 are connected to one another. The tubes 1 and 2 abut against one another at the joint 3 with their end faces 4 and 5, which are circular in the exemplary embodiment shown. An annular body 10 is provided at the joint 3, which is also circular in the exemplary embodiment shown (cf. FIG. 6).
The ring body 10 has on its outer surface 11 two ribs 12 and 13 with a trapezoidal cross-section, the ribs 12 and 13 tapering away from the outer surface 11 of the ring body 10.
The ring body 10 consists for example of aluminum and is interrupted at one point by a gap 15 so that it can be widened and reduced
In the region of the ends 16 and 17 lying on both sides of the gap 15, the ring body 10 is formed with a larger wall thickness. In the region of the ends 16 and 17 with increased wall thickness, the device 20 shown in FIG. 1 for expanding the ring body 10 is also used
The device 20 consists of a clamping screw 21, a wedge 22 provided with a threaded bore 23 and a wedge 24 provided with a bore 25. The wedge 22 is screwed with its threaded bore onto the threaded part of the clamping screw 21, whereas the wedge 24 slides onto the shaft of the Clamping screw 21 is inserted.
The device 20 for widening the ring body 10 is attached to the ring body 10 such that the inclined surfaces 26 of the wedges 22 and 24 abut the bevels 27 at the ends 16, 17 of the ring body 10 in the region of the gap 25. By tightening the clamping screw 21, the ring body 10 rests with its outer surface 11 on the inner surface 6 in the region of the ends of the two tubes 1 and 2. The inner surface 6, in the area in which the annular body 10 is arranged, is formed with a larger diameter than the remaining area of the inner surface 7 of the tubes 1 and 2.
The ribs 12 and 13 of the ring body 10 engage in the grooves 8 on the inner surfaces 6 of the tubes 1 and 2 and are securely held in the ring body 10 after actuation of the device 20 for expanding them, since the device 20 also holds the ring body 10 in maintains its expanded condition.
In order to press the end faces 4 and 5 of the two tubes 1 and 2 firmly against one another in the region of the joint 3, it can also be provided that the distance between the facing oblique side faces 14 of the ribs 12, 13 is somewhat smaller than the distance between the inclined faces 9 of the grooves 8 in the two pipes 1 and 2, so that the pipes 1 and 2 are pressed together with their end faces 4 and 5 when the device 20 is tightened.
Two bores 40 are provided in the region of the ends 16 and 17 of the ring body 10.
These bores 40 can be used to attach a tool to elastically deform the ring body 10 in the sense of a reduction in its outer diameter when it is inserted into the ends of pipes 1 and 2 to be connected to one another or when the connection is released by removing the ring body 10 shall be. After insertion, the ring body 10 resiliently springs up, so that it sits securely even without tightening the tensioning screws 21 of the device 20 for expansion, so that the further assembly (tightening the tensioning screw 21) can be carried out easily.
In summary, the invention can be illustrated as follows, for example
In order to connect tubular components 1, 2 which rest against one another with their end faces 4, 5, an annular body 10 is used in the region of the joint 3. The ring body 10 has on its outside 11 two ribs 12, 13 which engage in grooves 8 in the tubular components 1, 2. The annular body 10 is open at one point through a gap 15 so that it can be expanded radially.
For widening and / or for pressing the ring body 10, a recess 20 is provided which has a clamping screw 21, a wedge 22 provided with a threaded bore 23 into which the clamping screw 21 is screwed, which is from one side in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Area of the gap 15 abuts the annular body 10, and has a further wedge 24 which is inserted with a bore 25 over the shaft of the clamping screw 21 and bears against the annular body 10 in the area of the gap 15 from the other side.
