The invention relates to the use of two- and / or three-metal sulfides as active, in particular halogen-free, fillers for grinding wheels, in particular for grinding or cutting discs, and grinding wheels containing such fillers.
Abrasives, e.g. Separation letters consist essentially of three components, namely the abrasive, granular abrasive, a binder (resin) and fillers.
Man unterscheidet: 1. Depending on their properties, the fillers are essentially divided into three groups. One differentiates: 1.) Inactive fillers without direct influence on the grinding behavior. They serve to influence mechanical properties such as strength and hardness of the bond, examples of this group are chalk, clays, feldspar etc. 2.) Fillers for modifying the hardening properties of the resin binders, in particular by catalytic influence. These include e.g. Calcium oxide and magnesium oxide. 3.) Active fillers, which have a positive influence on the grinding behavior through chemical and physical reactions. Firstly, they reduce the friction between abrasive grain, workpiece and chips, whereby they can form a primary lubricating film in the form of a melting film or solid lubricating film. However, secondary films can also be formed from decomposition products of the grinding-active fillers. Furthermore, primary or secondary surface films can form on the grain and workpiece, which prevents grain destruction through fusion processes (e.g. spinel formation when grinding ferrous materials with corundum) and re-welding of the chips onto the material. In addition, cooling effects in the micro range can occur due to high heat of melting, evaporation and conversion and temperature-favorable thermal conversion products.
Bleichlorid, Flußspat, Kryolith usw.), Chalkogenide (z.B. Pyrit, Antimonsulfide, Zinksulfid, Molybdänsulfid, Selenide, Telluride usw.), niedrigschmelzende Metalle (z.B. Blei, Zinn, niedrigschmelzende Mischmetalle), Hochdruckschmiermittel (z.B. Graphit) erwiesen. Graphit, Schwefel).Halides (e.g. lead chloride, fluorspar, cryolite etc.), chalcogenides (e.g. pyrite, antimony sulfides, zinc sulfide, molybdenum sulfide, selenides, tellurides etc.), low-melting metals (e.g. lead, tin, low-melting mixed metals), high-pressure lubricants (e.g. high-pressure lubricants) e.g. graphite). In practice, however, numerous substances cannot be replaced or can only be replaced under special conditions because they are expensive (precious metal halides, molybdenum sulfide), toxic (arsenic, selenium, lead compounds), hygroscopic or easily water-soluble (numerous chlorides) or . react strongly with the uncured phenolic resin system (hygroscopic chlorides) or reduce the pane strength (eg graphite, sulfur).
Active fillers based on complex halides are e.g. mentioned in EP-PS 0 299 950 and AT-PS 372 894.
An improvement in the hygroscopic properties of these complex halides could be achieved by complex metal salts based on halides, phosphates and chalcogenides, see EP-PS 0 375 803.
The ever stricter regulations for the disposal of grinding waste make the use of many known and inexpensive halides, such as cryolite, and sulfides, such as antimony trisulfide, increasingly difficult. In particular, there is still a search for halogen-free fillers because halogens, especially chlorine, are repeatedly mentioned in connection with possible dioxin formation during the grinding process.
On the basis of the best known sulfides, however, it is not possible to produce competitive grinding media, especially high-quality grinding and cutting discs, because either the quality of the sulfides does not match that of the halides (FeS2, FeS, ZnS, CU2S, CuS, SnS, SnS2, MnS etc.), or because the application is only possible to a very limited extent due to environmental or toxicity reasons (PbS, Sb2S3 etc.).
In this connection, W095 / 25231 by the applicant proposes an additive to friction lining mixtures, which consists of a mixture of Fe-II sulfide with a sulfide of molybdenum and / or zinc and / or tungsten and / or titanium, as well as the WO95 / 02657 by the applicant, an additive which contains a combination of Cu-l-sulfide with at least one further sulfide of molybdenum, zinc, antimony, tungsten, tin and / or titanium.
A 629 472 relates to the use of metal sulfides in the sintered metal bond zone between the steel support body and the cutting segments of an abrasive tool.
A 482 412 relates to an abrasive body which contains active fillers in the usual way, which contain a combination of tin, FeS2 and K2SOt.
AT 402 907 B are equivalent to known sulfides and halides without exhibiting their disadvantageous properties, such as hygroscopy or toxicity.
Accordingly, the use of these two- and three-metal sulfides is proposed according to the invention as an active, in particular halogen-free filler for abrasive articles with an organic or ceramic bond, in particular for grinding and cutting discs, the filler comprising at least one compound of the formula M1, M2mM3nSx, in the M1, M2 and M3 each represent a metal from the series Ti, V, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Mo, W, Sb, Sn and Bi, S denotes sulfur, and the indices denote the ranges I = 1-5, m = 1 Span -5, n = 0-5 and x = 2-8, contains or consists of.
The active filler is preferably a multiphase sulfide mixture, in particular a combination of at least one compound of the formula M1lM2mM3nSx with one or more sulfides of Ti, V, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Mo, W, Sb, Sn and Bi.
Corresponding abrasive bodies containing such solid lubricants are also proposed.
Two-detail sulfides and three-metal sulfides from the group given above are known from the literature and also occur as minerals; only as examples (in brackets the corresponding minerals) Cu2 FeSnS * (stannite), Cu2 FeSnsSe (rhodostannite), CusSnS * (Kurmanit), Mn2SnS *, SnFe ^ *, Cu2TiS2. They have already been provided as solid lubricants, especially for friction linings, according to an unpublished proposal by the applicant.
The two-metal and three-metal sulfides proposed according to the invention as active fillers for abrasive bodies can be prepared by the processes customary for the production of sulfides, i.e. sulfidation (heating of metal powders with sulfur or polysulfides) or conversion of hydroxides or oxides with ammonium sulfide or H2S to wet chemical or dry road.
Typically, the multimetal sulfides can also have a melt phase, e.g. by melting together binary pure sulfides in the absence of air, often resulting in mixtures of several different phases. Wet chemical precipitation of multimetal sulfides is also known from the literature. It has been shown that multimetal sulfides are also formed during the sulfidation of metal alloys and metal powder mixtures, which can be detected by means of X-ray diffraction or electron microscopy using the microsensor.
Abrasive bodies according to the invention, in particular grinding wheels, contain an abrasive, granular abrasive, a binder, in particular phenolic resins or ceramic phases being customary as binders, and a filler according to the invention, if appropriate in addition to other fillers. The proportion of the filler according to the invention is advantageously at least 5% by mass, based on the total filler.
The grinding wheels according to the invention are manufactured in a known manner - e.g. by mixing the components, press forms and hardening - and show good cutting quality (white cut) and high cutting performance.

Herstellung des erfindungsgemäßen Füllstoffs:Production of the filler according to the invention:
3A mixture of 50% Cu2S, 40% SnS and 10% FeS is heated to 1000'C in the absence of air. After cooling, a compact block is obtained which is broken and finely ground, preferably grain sizes < 150 µm can be achieved. Phases of the composition CusSnSt, Cu5Sn2S7, Cu2FeSnS »and Cu2 FeSn ^ Ss can be detected in the filler produced in this way. 3rd
