Device for breaking the arc in electric arc lamps through reinforced
Effect of a blow stream.
EMI1.1
eventual break-off of the arc is intensified.
The reinforcement intended here can be effected by one of the means described below and illustrated schematically in the drawing.
According to the embodiment of FIG. 1, the increased effect of the magnet takes place in that the blow magnet a is gradually brought closer to the arc and, due to the appropriate dimensioning of the blow current in relation to the arc, such a strong effect on the arc towards the end of the coal consumption Arc has that it will be torn off. In this embodiment, the blow magnet is connected to the crossbar on which the coals c respectively. the coal holder hang and which sinks with the gradual supply of coal (dot-dashed position) and thus comes closer and closer to the arc.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the effect of the magnetic field emanating, for example, from a known blow magnet a or a solenoid or the like is intensified at the given moment by the fact that the blow circuit is usually preceded by a resistor d which, however, is briefly closed at the given moment and this increases the amperage in the blowing circuit. In the illustrated embodiment according to FIG. 2, short-circuiting takes place by touching the contact pieces e, f. which, for example, when the known balance beam g swing out or by the movement of another under the Einn. The part of the known differential work can be brought into contact.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 3, the coals c serve at the same time as the resistance usually connected upstream of the blow magnet a. If this blow magnet is in the lamp current, it will receive so much more current as the coals gradually burn off than is consumed by the resistance of the coals and, if the ratio is correct, the current amplification in the blow magnet will be sufficient to end
EMI1.2
coil h is switched on, for example, by contacts e, f, which is similar to that shown in Fig.
3 can be brought into contact by the balance beam g or by another part moved by the differential mechanism when a certain tension is reached. This contact and thus the amplification of the blow stream effect to break the arc can take place both towards the end of the coal consumption and when a certain arc voltage is exceeded, which for example results in a failure to supply coal in time due to a malfunction in the regulating unit or because of the lowest position of the coal holder at the end of the Can be coal consumption.

given moment, namely when a certain arc voltage is exceeded or towards the end of the coal consumption by the known differential mechanism, for example by switching the contacts e /, is switched off. These two contacts usually close the circuit for winding i, which, as a result of its direction opposite to winding a, has a sucking effect and perhaps has a lower magnetic effect than winding a.
In the case of normal burning, it is achieved that the winding a has a blowing effect on the arc in the normal manner. However, if the winding i is de-energized when the contacts e, f are opened, the blown current winding o will act on the arc with full force and so strongly that it breaks off.
