Process for the production of solid fuel from petroleum, pitch and sawdust.
Solid fuel in the shape of spheres or bricks has already been made from wood sawdust, pitch and mineral oil, which can be used advantageously for furnaces because of the high calorific value of the crude oil. However, fuel produced in this way is limited in its use, as the petroleum odor adheres to it, which makes it unsuitable for storage - even in small quantities - in homes.
The purpose of the present invention is to eliminate this petroleum odor. For this purpose, according to the present invention, substances are added to the wood chips before they are mixed with petroleum, which make the petroleum odorless. Appropriately, among the agents suitable for this purpose, those are selected that are also suitable for bringing about or supporting the thickening of the petroleum in order to enable the use of special agents

show that pure carbolic acid and acetic acid alumina are able to meet the requirements.
To produce the fuel according to the present invention, wood saws are

constant stirring to 100 wood shavings, 500 g of pure carbolic acid and 20 g of acetic acid clay are added. 10 kg of Naphtapech are then added to the wood chips prepared in this way, with continued stirring and at the same temperature. As soon as the sawdust is sufficiently impregnated, it is placed in a second container and allowed to cool down to 600 C, whereupon 90 kg of pure petroleum are added to the mass, stirring thoroughly.
The carbolic acid and the acetic acid clay serve to eliminate the petroleum odor, while the naphtha gives the mass the necessary consistency and reduces the risk of easy inflammability; The first-mentioned substances also increase the strength of the fuel by thickening the oil.
The mass is pressed into molds and dried in a drying oven for about three hours at 40 ° C. The spherical shape appears particularly suitable for the fuel, because between the individual pieces placed in the oven there are
