Abstract

In a fluidized-bed furnace, part-load operation takes place by a change in the size of the fluidized region, in that the fluidized bed region is reduced to at least one region according to the part load and is displaced in steps within the entire bed region and/or the reduced fluidized region is increased and reduced in steps over time and/or the reduced fluidized region is abruptly shifted locally, so that an essentially identical average temperature is maintained in the entire bed region, the fuel supply taking place essentially towards the reduced fluidized region. The air nozzles 2 of the fluidized-bed furnace can be switched on and off in columns, in rows or individually via valves 4, 7 in the air supply line 3, the valves 4, 7 being activated by a control. <IMAGE>
