<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to a method for producing spacer frames for insulating glass from a rolled or extruded hollow profile strip which is formed in one piece continuously in the area of the frame corners, the inner wall of the hollow profile strip being pressed against the outer wall in the area of the inner corner and the outer wall in the area of the outer area Corner is flattened until it touches the inner wall.
In addition to spacer frames for insulating glass, which are composed of straight profile tubes using corner brackets, spacer frames are also used, the corners of which are produced by bending the spacer profile tubes. The one-piece bent spacer frames known from DE-OS 2632337 and 2829444 have two disadvantages. Firstly, the radius of curvature in the corner area is relatively large, so that, in particular, the inner curvature is disruptively visible even when insulating glass is installed. Another disadvantage is that the known spacer frames, which are produced by bending the spacer profile tubes, are weakened in the area of their corners, so that the spacer frames are affected during the manipulations - coating with sealing or
Bending the adhesive and placing the spacer frame on a glass pane in the production of insulating glass, the bending primarily taking place in the corner area. These disadvantages of the one-piece bent spacer frames do not have spacer frames composed of straight profile pieces, since the corner angles are stiffer than the frame profiles themselves.
The invention has for its object to provide a method for producing spacer frames of the type mentioned, which do not have the disadvantages mentioned and in particular have stable corners.
According to the invention, this is achieved by indenting notches in the outer wall of the hollow profile strip on both sides of the corner to be formed before the bending process, by depressing the inner wall of the hollow profile strip in the region of the corner to be formed in a trough-like manner, and by then producing the hollow profile strip symmetrically to the previously produced one trough-like depression bends, keeping the side cheeks of the hollow profile strip substantially parallel.
A major advantage of the method according to the invention is that not only can internal corners with very small radii of curvature be produced, but also that the inclination of the side cheeks of the spacer profile tube during the bending process to evade from its parallel position is considerably smaller than before. This fact means that extremely small forces are required to guide the side cheeks of the spacer profile tube during the bending process, which in turn means that little friction occurs. This fact also contributes to the fact that a corner formation with an extraordinarily small radius of curvature can be produced, in particular in the area of the inner corner.
If necessary, the corner produced according to the invention can be pressed flat after the bending process, for example in the corner area, in order to ensure that the side walls are aligned exactly in parallel also in the corner area.
The bending process is made considerably easier because notches are embossed in the outer wall of the hollow profile strip on both sides of the corner to be formed before the bending process. One can proceed according to the invention in such a way that the notches in the outer wall are carried in an area outside the trough produced in the inner wall.
The method according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings. 1 shows a spacer frame with curved corners, FIG. 2 shows a corner of the spacer frame on an enlarged scale in the longitudinal central section, and FIG. 3 shows a section along the line III-III in FIG. 2.
The spacer frame-1-shown in Fig. 1 consists of a single piece of spacer profile tube --2--, the joint --2 '- by a not shown, in the spacer

--2-- inserted- -3--, which face the glass panes in the insulating glass. The side walls --3-- are connected to each other via an inner wall --5-- and an outer wall --4--, whereby in the area of the inner wall --5-- with rolled spacer profile tubes --2-- the longitudinal seam --6 -- lies. The longitudinal seam --6-- can be of any design. Step seam-like longitudinal seams are possible, as are longitudinal seams with means for hooking the two halves of the inner wall --5--.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In particular, it can be seen from FIG. 2 that the inner wall --5-- forms an inner corner --7 '- in the region of the corner --7, the radius of curvature of which is greater than that of the inner corner --7 "- of the side cheeks --3--, which means that the inner wall --5-- in the area of the inner corner - is pressed against the outer wall --4--.
Similar conditions exist in the area of the outer corner --8-- of the spacer profile tube. There the outer wall --4-- is flattened 8'-in the area of the outer corners, i.e. H. curved with a larger radius of curvature than the outer corner --8 "- the side cheeks --3--.
This combination of indented inner wall --5-- and flattened outer wall --4-- or this ratio of the radii of curvature in the area of corners --7-- of the spacer frame enables extremely rigid corners to be achieved. This effect is exacerbated if the radius of curvature of the inner wall --5-- from a maximum in the area of the longitudinal center plane of the spacer profile tube --2-- (radius of curvature in the area of the inner corner --7 '-) continuously up to the radius of curvature the inside corner --7 "- the side cheeks --3-- decreases.
A design of the outer corner-8- works in the same sense, in which the radius of curvature of the outer surface --4-- continuously from a maximum in the area of the longitudinal center plane of the spacer profile tube --2-- (curvature in the area of the outer corner-8'-) to the radius of curvature of the outside corner --8 "- of the side cheeks --3-- of the spacer profile tube --2--.
To create the corner of the spacer frame, proceed as follows:
First, in the area of the corner to be formed, the inner wall --5-- of the spacer profile tube --2-- is pressed inwards, so that a trough-like depression is formed in the area of the corner to be created. The spacer profile tube --2-- is then bent at right angles in a plane parallel to the planes defined by the side walls --3--, the trough previously created in the inner wall --5-- lying symmetrically to the corner formed. At the
EMI2.1
it is not necessary to press the side cheeks --3-- during the bending process, so that no great frictional forces occur between the side cheeks --3-- and the guide tools.
Thanks to the low friction that occurs, the bending process is easy to carry out and the desired sharp corners are obtained.
To make the bending process even easier, the spacer profile tube --2-- can be formed in its outer wall --4-- on both sides of the trough-like recess --9-- created in the inner wall - before bending. These notches can also be created simultaneously with the initiation of the bending process. Through these notches --9-the outer wall --4-- can more easily assume the position shown in FIG. 2 (flattened corner --8 '-). Even if the spacer frame is made of a relatively hard alloy (magnesium-aluminum alloy).
