Vacuum pump for gases.
In the case of gas pumps, such as air compressors, but especially vacuum pumps, the pressure equalization method is often used. one brings the in every dead position of the piston

remaining gas of outflow voltage overflows on the other side, on which suction voltage prevails, whereby, as is known, a higher volumetric efficiency is achieved.
The invention relates to a similar method which is equally suitable for all types of arrangement and staring and especially for single-acting pumps and those with

In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 5, a is the main cylinder of the pump, which has a small cylinder c at its rear end in addition to the inlet and outlet organs e, f

of the master cylinder a will rapidly overflow into the slave cylinder o. When the main piston b moves forward and the auxiliary piston d moves backward, the suction slots are covered again. The main xytinder a now plays the! Suction section with high volumetric efficiency, because most of the gas, which would otherwise have to re-expand from the harmful space, has been removed by the auxiliary pump c, d.
It would also be possible to equip the small auxiliary pump ″, d with eye valves or the like instead of small suction slits, but this would require a suitable drive for the piston d

if you want to achieve effective pumping out of the harmful space in the master cylinder. The auxiliary pump can also be parallel to the main piston or so that the piston rod

In the exemplary embodiments according to FIGS. 6 and 7, the secondary air pump is formed by the main cylinder of the pump, which saves space in the machine system and is cheaper to manufacture. e is again the inlet and the outlet of the master cylinder a, in which the pump piston b, designed as a differential piston, moves. In the cylinder jacket there is a suction slot y, through which the gas in the harmful space is sucked at the end of the piston stroke to the space h behind the piston, in which air dilution rises. When the piston moves back, the gas present in space h is punctured through the connection t. In the double-acting vacuum pump (Fig. 7) the suction slots g and the outlets i are provided twice.
It is not necessary to step down the piston, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7; it can also have the usual shape.
