The water flowing in through the line 7 fills the housing 1 up to the upper end of the channel 6. There it overflows and flows down into the suction device, along with the dust and air that have been mixed with the water.
The suction device consists of a cylindrical housing 9 with lids 10 and 11 which are provided with suitable valves 12 for discharging the mixture under pressure. Outer chambers 13 are connected to the interior of the cylinder 9 through the valves 12 and are in communication with one another at the upper end through the transverse channel 14 which opens into the outlet connection 15. The connecting channel 76 between the line 6 and the cylinder interior 9 opens at 17, approximately in the middle, into the cylinder.
The piston 18 is almost half shorter than the piston chamber 9 and slightly smaller in diameter than the inner bore of the cylinder, so that it fits loosely into the cylinder and apart from the one flowing through the line 6 and the passages 16, 17 and into No other packing is required when the water is in the cylinder. For this purpose, the piston 18 has a series of v n grooves 79 which fill completely or partially with water and the piston

can be moved back and forth in some way. The chambers 13 and the cylinder 9 are provided with outlets 23 which can be closed by stoppers.
This enables the chambers to be cleaned.
During operation, the line connected to the inlet port 2 is sucked in and

according to the hub once on the front and the other on the back.
The vacuum grows until the rear end of the piston passes the Onnung 77. The vacuum can then come into effect through the lines 6 and 16 in the manner described above. When the front end of the piston 18 exceeds the opening 77, there is a corresponding overpressure in front of the piston, so that the mixture is forced out through the valve 12 in question and into the corresponding chamber 73. From this it flows into the discharge line 15.
