Provide inlet channel section (DE-PS No. 724584, CH-PS No. 148403), but this does not open out in the transition area between the web section and the foot section of the mold cavity.
According to a further feature of the invention, the lower section of the inlet channel, as is known per se, runs from the transverse channel to its mouth in an arcuate curve.
According to another feature of the invention, a rising channel is formed in the side wall of each mold half on both sides of the inlet channel and runs from the rail foot section of the mold cavity to the top of the mold.
The invention is explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawings. 1 shows a cross section through a mold half according to the invention, the mold cavity being visible and the rail profile being indicated by dashed lines, and FIG. 2 is a plan view of the mold half according to FIG. 1.
The half of a casting mold shown in the drawings, which is divided in the longitudinal center plane of the rails and which is produced from molding sand, has a molding starting from the top of the mold.

between and a section --3 'forming the rail foot --3'. In the side wall --4-- of each mold half there is also an inlet channel --5-- with a circular cross section.
The inlet channel --5-- goes on the one hand via a funnel-shaped extension --6-- into the
Top of the mold half over and on the other hand opens out via a lower section --5 '- inclined to the parting plane of the mold into the transition area between the rail web section --2-- and the rail foot section --3-- of the mold cavity. The lower section --5 '- has a circular cross section.
The inlet channel --5-- is also connected via an upper transverse channel --7-- with a rectangular cross section to the rail head section-1-of the mold cavity. On both sides of the inlet channel --5--, a rising channel --8-- is formed in the side wall --4-- of the mold half, which runs from the foot section --3-- of the mold cavity to the top of the mold half and the trigger of Exhaust gases favored during preheating.
As can be seen in particular in FIG. 1, the design of the rail foot section 3 - 3 of the mold cavity is such that there is no significant weld bead on the underside of the rail foot 3 3 ', so that post-processing of the foot underside is not necessary . If necessary, a heat-resistant mortar can be worked into the bottom of the mold cavity. The filling of the inlet duct --5-- and the riser duct --8-- is removed after solidification and the burrs are removed if necessary. In Fig. 2 the impact width a is indicated schematically, d. H. the mutual distance between the abutting surfaces of the rail ends to be welded.
The above-described design and arrangement of the inlet channel enables a complete combustion of the injected fuel-oxygen mixture in the lower mold cavity area during preheating, because the inlet channel, which is large in diameter compared to the riser channels, forms a chimney for the resulting exhaust gases, which is separated from the mold cavity in terms of heating the Rail ends critical point. In addition, the arrangement shown ensures that the foot section of the mold cavity is properly filled.
It goes without saying that the invention is not restricted to the exemplary embodiment shown, but rather can be modified within the scope of the inventive concept. For example, the mouth section --5 I - of the inlet channel could also have a different cross section instead of the circular one, and in particular be designed as a slot oriented in the longitudinal direction of the rail. Furthermore, the lower section of the inlet channel could be curved away from the transverse channel --7--. The arrangement shown is expedient for design reasons.
Finally, the number and arrangement as well as the diameter of the ascending ducts can deviate from the one shown, but in practice two ascending ducts per mold half, the diameter of which is only about half the size of that of the inlet duct, have proven to be particularly advantageous.
