Adding thickened kerosene would make the metal coating very defective, adding thickened kerosene to the boiled-down metal bath results in a very even metal coating. The petroleum additive has the same properties as the commonly used soldering grease.

The thickened petroleum is produced in such a way that the petroleum available on the market is boiled down to a dark brown oil mass.

The method described can of course be carried out in any other way. Instead of removing the residues from the metal baths and oxidizing them in the air, any other oxidized metal residues (tinned iron chips, tin chips, zinc chips) can be used. In this way the production time of the metal bath is naturally shortened considerably.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method of preparing metal objects for coating with liquid metal, characterized in that the metal objects cleaned in a known manner are coated with a mass which consists essentially of the chlorides of tin, zinc, iron and oxides of some or all of these metals and has an addition of thickened petroleum.

2. A process for the production of the coating composition according to claim l, characterized in that zinc, tin and iron are dissolved in hydrochloric acid, so that an excess of metal remains, whereupon this undissolved residue is oxidized and mixed with the solution, which is then up to Thickened petroleum is added to saturation.
