<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to an air control damper for air conditioning systems with a plurality of fins for adjusting the air flow, which are provided at least at one end with gears, each gear on the side facing away from the fins has a pin which is rotatably mounted in a sleeve of a holder, the Gears are in mutual engagement, so that when the
Gears the slats are pivoted into the desired position, which gears on the to
Slat-facing side have profiled elevations for snapping the ends of the shaped slats.
Such air control flaps for air conditioning systems are known from US Pat. Nos. 3, 176, 715 and No. 3, 771, 559, the slats being arranged centrally to them in these known air control flaps
Axes of rotation are rotated. In the closed position, the ends of the adjacent lamellae touch, with the air regulating flap according to US Pat. No. 3, 771, 559 even deforming the elastic one
End part of the slats is effected. It has been found that the closure of the
Slats are only reached if the slat ends overlap accordingly in the closed position.
However, this has the disadvantage in the known arrangements that when opening the
Slats these slats over an angle, which depends on the extent of the overlap, in contact with each other, so remain closed when the adjacent slats are arranged centrally to their axis of rotation.
Another disadvantage of the known arrangements is that none of them
There is the possibility, by simply changing the slats, of various designs
To use slat profiles.
It is therefore an object of the invention to provide an improved air control flap of the type mentioned at the outset, in which the disadvantages explained above are avoided.
For this purpose, the air control flap according to the invention of the type specified at the outset is characterized in that the cross section of the slats is asymmetrical with respect to their axis of rotation, the longitudinal edges of the respective adjacent slats overlapping in a manner known per se and causing the air control flap to close, and that on the side of the gearwheels facing the lamellae, elevations for engaging in at least two differently profiled lamellae are arranged.
In the air regulating flap according to the invention, the lamellae are therefore arranged eccentrically to the axis of rotation, so that the contact zone of the one lamella is at a greater distance from its own axis of rotation than the zone of contact of the adjacent lamellae from the axis of rotation assigned to it.
Therefore, if the overlapping slat ends are moved apart when the slats are rotated, this occurs immediately after the start of the rotation. The lamella zone, which is further away from its own axis of rotation, travels a greater distance at the same angle of rotation than the end zone of the adjacent lamella, in which the distance from the axis of rotation is smaller. As a result, a gap for the passage of the air flow is necessarily formed immediately, even if the angle of rotation is very small. So you can get a fine control of the opening of the slats and at the same time a perfect closing of the same. It is also possible to use different configurations of the lamella profiles without any difficulties in closing or opening the lamellae.
The invention is explained below with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawings. In detail, the drawings show: FIGS. 1 and 2 in front view or in axial section of a gear wheel of the air control flap; 3 and 4 each a lamella inserted into the gear according to FIGS. 1 and 2, and FIGS. 5 and 6 in a schematic representation the way in which the gears shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 are connected to one another and how the slats shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 are arranged relative to each other.
According to the drawings, the air control flap has a multiplicity of adjustment louvres - la or lb - which, depending on their position, can regulate or block an air flow in an air conditioning system in whole or in part. Furthermore, the air control flap shown has a plurality of gearwheels --2--, which are rotatably arranged on a holder and are detachably connected to the slats --la or 1b--. The rotary movement is mediated by the gears-2-the LameUen - la, Ib - to form a larger or smaller air passage opening, the gears --2-- all being in direct engagement with each other (Fig. 5 and 6).
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Each gear wheel --2-- has profiled elevations on the side facing the associated lamella --la, lb--, which form an insert seat for the lamella --1a, 1b-- (Fig. 1 and 3). In particular, these elevations consist of two elongated profile ribs 4, which are arranged at a distance from one another, and a plurality of profile teeth 3, which are arranged between the two profile ribs 4.
In this way, channels are formed between the profile teeth - 3 - and the elongated profile ribs --4--, in which the correspondingly profiled end of each lamella --1a, 1b-- is clamped. For example, slats with an aerodynamic hollow profile made of aluminum - la-- (Fig. 3 and 5) or profiled slats made of zinc sheet --1b-- (Fig. 4 and 6) can be used. These two types of slats --la, lb-- fit exactly into the seats of the gearwheel --2-- and are locked in place so that they can no longer move, with the axis of rotation --1 '- of the slats --la, lb-- coincides with the axis of rotation of the gearwheel --2--.
As can be seen from the drawings, the lamella-la, lb-- have an asymmetrical shape with respect to the axis of rotation of the gearwheels --2--. The longitudinal edges are actually parallel to
EMI2.1
--5 - gear --2-- so far that it reaches the edge --6-- of the adjacent lamella. For this purpose, the longitudinal edges --5 and 6 - are shaped in such a way that they match those of the adjacent slats
EMI2.2
-la, 1b-- positive-locking hollow profile is also a seal --7-- arranged in a corresponding seat --8--, which is formed in the longitudinal edge --5--.
If the air flow is to be controlled by the control flap during operation, the lamella-la or lb-- are rotated by means of the gearwheels --2--, which, because they mesh directly with one another, rotate in opposite directions. The gears --2-- are mounted on the one hand by means of an axial pin --9-- in bushes of lateral support profiles made of sheet metal, and on the other hand with the lamellae --la or
1b-- firmly connected by a clamp connection, without the need for connecting or connecting elements such as screws, rivets, nails, pins, springs, shafts, pipes, welding, riveting, bending, gluing, constrictions, etc.
The pin-9-, which is mounted in a bush pressed into a lateral mounting plate, makes the use of bearings for the rotatable mounting of the gear wheels --2-- unnecessary. The rotation of the slats --la or 1b-- by means of the gearwheels --2-- leads, if it is carried out in a certain direction, to the complete closure of the air regulating flap, because the further protruding longitudinal edges --5-- tend to to traverse a circumferential arc that is larger than that which the neighboring, less protruding longitudinal edges --6-- traverse. In the closed position, the flawless closure in the case of the slats --la--, which have a shape of a hollow aerodynamic profile,
guaranteed by the seal --7--.
The air control flap described thus consists of an extremely small number of parts which are connected to one another in the simplest manner and which permit simple and easy assembly and disassembly.
The robustness of the air control flap is ensured by the design of the parts, while the shape of the slats guarantees a perfect seal in the closed position. In practice, the materials and dimensions used can be chosen as desired, depending on the requirements.
