<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a method for producing a flat covering consisting of individual oxide ceramic elements, for. B. for machines for removing liquid from a pasty fleece, in particular for paper machines, by gluing. The formation of the coverings from individual elements, which are often subdivided and laid across the width of the machine on rigid steel supports of the box structures, has so far brought great difficulties in assembly. In addition to a precisely machined clamping surface, the height tolerances and cross-sectional tolerances of the individual elements made of oxide ceramics must also be extremely narrow. It was difficult to keep the clamping surfaces clean during assembly.
Due to the above-mentioned circumstances, damage to screens and coverings often occurred if the work was not carried out with extreme care and therefore extremely slowly.
The invention has for its object to remedy this situation and to provide an effective, material-saving and securely holding bond which is easy to produce, particularly with regard to the smallness of the surfaces to be bonded. This is achieved in a method of the type mentioned at the outset in that, according to the invention, a rapidly curing adhesive, for example, is applied to the abutting surfaces of the oxide ceramic elements. B. a one-component adhesive, in particular made of cyanoacrylate, or an optionally pre-accelerated two-component adhesive is applied that the oxide ceramic elements are aligned thereon with their abutting surfaces in the plane, for.
B. by placing on a flat table or on two cutting edges extending transversely to the abutting surfaces, whereupon the adhesive is allowed to harden, possibly under pressure and / or heat. When using the method according to the invention, it is possible to produce coverings made of individual oxide ceramic elements for breast tables, rear ledges, deflectors, sieve tables, support tables, wet suction boxes, flat suction boxes such as perforated plates with longitudinal slots and all other usual shapes, as well as pipe suction cups, felt suction boxes or the like, with simple and faster working and without any difficulty during assembly.
One embodiment of a device for carrying out the method according to the invention is characterized in that the two cutting edges extending transversely to the abutting surfaces of the oxide ceramic elements preferably run parallel to one another, protrude from a base and that a stop strip for the edges of the oxide ceramic elements is arranged at a distance from the strips is.
The construction of this device is extremely simple, so that the device can be set up practically anywhere.
In a further embodiment of the device according to the invention, the stop bar can be attached to the base. The stop bar can also be kept adjustable so that its position can be adapted to the respective needs.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings, for example. 1 shows a cross section through a single oxide ceramic element, such as that shown in FIG. B. can be used for the construction of a foil covering, Fig. 2, the holder of the covering, which is constructed from individual elements arranged in a row according to FIG. 1, in a machine, and FIGS. 3 and 4 in cross section and in a plan view of a device , with which the inventive method can be carried out.
In the drawings, --1-- denotes a ceramic screen element. Such an element can be used according to its cross-sectional shape, for example, to produce a film covering. The entire foil covering is constructed from individual elements of this type. On the edges of the oxide ceramic element - 1-- beads - 2 and 3 - can be applied in the manner shown in FIG. 1, which consist of a hardenable plastic. Of course, the plastic can also be applied around the lower edges of the oxide ceramic element - 1.
From Fig. 2 it can be seen in what way the covering consisting of individual oxide ceramic elements --1-- is applied to the receptacle --5-- located on the foil case. The beads - 2 and 3 - can be deformed by means of a clamping strip - 8--, which is connected to the receptacle --5-- by screws --9--, so that they cover the edge area in the form of a film - -6 or 7-enclose and establish a good connection between the covering and the receptacle --5-- or the terminal strip --8--.
The device shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 for carrying out the method according to the invention, in which a rapidly hardening body is applied to the abutting surfaces of the oxide ceramic elements, whereupon the oxide ceramic elements are aligned in the plane by joining their abutting surfaces
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
and the adhesive is allowed to harden, has --1-- extending blades - 13 and 14-- extending across the abutting surfaces of the oxide ceramic elements, which preferably run parallel to one another. The cutting edges --13 and 14-- protrude from a base --11--. At a distance from the strips --13 and 14-- there is a stop bar --12-- for the edges of the oxide ceramic elements --1--.
The support --11-- can be designed as a table and is preferably made of steel. 4 shows the abutting surfaces --4-- with which the neighboring oxide ceramic elements-1-abut one another. When producing a covering from individual oxide ceramic elements --1-- you can, for example, proceed as follows:
The oxide ceramic elements --1-- are ground in such a way that the abutting surfaces --4--, which may be provided with sealing grooves to accommodate sealing strips, are perpendicular to the surface of the oxide ceramic element.
After the abutting surfaces have been sanded precisely, they are thinly coated on one side with a fast-curing hard adhesive, such as is available as a quick-curing component adhesive based on cyanoacrylate. The oxide ceramic element --1-- is then placed with its back on the two strips --13 and 14--, which are designed as cutting edges, and the next segment after the already placed oxide ceramic element --1-- is set up the stop bar --12-- pressed briefly against the adjacent oxide ceramic element.
After a pressure of 10 s to a maximum of 3 min, the adhesive has hardened to such an extent that the two oxide ceramic elements --1-- connected to each other along the joint surfaces --1-- can only be separated from one another with great force. As described above, the procedure is continued so that oxide ceramic elements --1-- can be glued to each other until the required width of the covering is reached. There is no risk that the surfaces will move against each other. The surface of the covering created after gluing is stepless. At the place of use, the surface can then, if necessary, be skipped again to be absolutely flawless.
It should be pointed out that in the case of particularly wide machine coverings, the entire covering does not have to be put together in one go, that is to say at once, but two, three or even four sections can be used to build the covering. These sections are then bonded to one another in a manner similar to the individual oxide ceramic elements which form them. The production of sections brings advantages in particular because the transport costs can be kept low. When installing the covering in the machine, you only have to deal with one, two, three or four sections, i.e. a relatively small number of parts in contrast to what is known, whereby the covering had to be produced from a large number of small oxide ceramic elements, the equipment of which the machine caused great difficulties.
The beads --2 and 3 -, which are made of a relatively quick-hardening plastic, have the purpose of avoiding tensioning of the covering on the hard support part (suction box, sieve table, foil box), which is made of steel, and the risk of the covering breaking or to avoid separation of the oxide ceramic elements from one another. The plastic forming the beads --2 and 3-- is expediently pasty and should be accelerated.
After the beads --2 and 3-- have been applied, the individual oxide ceramic elements assembled into a complete strip are pushed into the receptacle --5-- after having previously either on the beads --2, 3-- or in the receptacle - 5-- at the points that come into contact with the beads --2, 3--, a hardener compound was applied, sprayed on or applied in some other way. The covering is set up and clamped precisely with a surface ruler, e.g.
B. by means of the terminal strip --8-- and screws Depending on the setting of the hardener, the beads --2, 3-- spread out into a film --6 or 7-- will harden faster or slower after gluing. As a plastic, epoxy resins or unsaturated polyester resins, for. B. used under the trade name Vestopal, Palatal, Viapal. By using adhesive beads --2, 3-- the surface of the covering can be set up absolutely flat even if the suction box is not completely open; tensioning and clamping devices. The beads --2 and 3-- create a certain balance here and a bed for the covering with its guidance.
When using the method according to the invention, hard coverings can be assembled from individual oxide ceramic elements and quickly converted into covering parts for paper machines that do not move against one another and can be assembled within a very short time. The individual oxide ceramic elements can also be secured against each other by laterally fitted bolts, tongues, grooves and parts, so that no steps are formed between the individual elements. For gluing
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
to use adhesives that undergo rapid and complete hardening and that do not remain rubber-elastic, because otherwise the individual oxide ceramic elements could move against one another, which would lead to the formation of steps in the covering.
