Process and rolls for the manufacture of drills with rolled-in grooves.

The invention relates to a method and a device for producing drills with. a rolled groove and an unbeaten drill shaft. It is already known to produce drills with four grooves with the help of four rollers arranged in a cross, by inserting the workpiece over the length to be grooved between these rollers and pulling it back again, or by moving the rollers back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the workpiece being held .

This mode of operation has the disadvantages that it is too cumbersome due to the necessary reversal of movement and that when the grooves are rolled in, the material is usually unevenly expelled between them, which increases the tube diameter in the grooved parts and causes significant material losses as well as increased reworking.

The method according to the present invention avoids these disadvantages in that two mutually opposite grooves are rolled into the non-weakened shaft while maintaining the constant diameter of the workpiece with complete passage of the same between the rollers and with a gradual transition.

For this purpose, rollers a (Fig. 1 and 2) are used, which are designed as semicircular grooves on their circumference, with the part b being a full shaft

Fig. 3 shows the work piece after the individual roller passes and finally turned to the drill.

The grooves are rolled in in a known manner in several, for example three, roller gauges.
