The invention relates to a bending tool for bending profiled strips to produce a preferably closed die, consisting of a hammer and an anvil, the working surfaces of the hammer and anvil being inclined backwards relative to the working movement to achieve automatic emptying of the die.
The closed cutting dies produced with such bending tools sometimes do not have sufficient automatic emptying. They often need alignment because the cutting edge is not in one plane. These difficulties can be avoided by the tool according to the invention, which is characterized in that the part of the tool that acts on the inside of the die has an effective height that is about 10 to 30% lower than the height of the strip profile and the counter tool is the same or greater than the height Having band.
The invention relates to further details of the new tool which is shown in the drawings in two embodiments. 1 and 2 show a tool in which the profile band is bent around its smooth side, in elevation and plan, and FIGS. 3 and 4 in the same illustration show a second tool with which the profile band is bent around its profiled outside becomes. The tool consists of an anvil - 1 - and a hammer - 2 -, which are clamped in a bending machine by means of the base 3 and 4.
The anvil - l - is provided with a vertical groove --5-- and is continuously profiled on its end face, i.e. including the groove - 5 - in adaptation to the figuration of the cross section of the band --6--, however, there does not have to be an exact match between the two profiles.
In many cases it is necessary for the tool to work properly that small deviations in the radii of curvature of the profiles are provided.
The hammer - 2 - is designed in a straight line corresponding to the smooth inside of the belt --6--, although both tool parts have a certain inclination with respect to the direction of movement, u. between in the direction of the smooth inside of the band-6--.
The hammer, which acts on the inside of the cutting die to be produced, is less high than the profile band-6--, so that a greater deformation of the band in the area of its cutting edge - 7 - takes place in the direction of the inside of the cutting form. This effect is supported when the hammer

In the tools shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, an anvil 9 acts on the inside of the die to be formed from the strip 6, while the hammer 10 acts on the outside. Both tools are again used in a bending machine by means of bases - 3 and 4. Here, too, the part that acts inside the die, namely the anvil - 9 -, is smaller in its effective height than the height of the

How great the increased inclination of the tool parts - 8 and 11 - must be and how far the radii of curvature on the tools should deviate from the radii of curvature of the strip cross-section can be determined by means of a few tests.
