<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to the adaptation of an artillery projectile into a practice projectile for a tank cannon.
The task was to investigate whether it would be possible to use artillery am) a) s training ammunition for tank cannons of the same caliber.
The discharged ammunition consists of: - explosive grenade (projectile) (1), filled with explosive (2), with detonator (3); - Cartridge sleeve with propellant powder and propellant lighter (4).
The investigation showed that the holds (cartridge chamber) of the artillery gun barrel and the armored gun barrel are very different, so the cartridge case, propellant lighter and (for internal ballistic reasons) the propellant powder of the artillery ammunition cannot be used for the tank cannon.
The train and field width (inner diameter) and the twist angle of the artillery tube and armored tube are identical, so the grenade would be usable. The grenade and detonator are identical in diameter, very similar in shape to an armored explosive grenade in use, but they are heavier and longer than this.
A practice projectile cartridge must be identical to the trajectory cartridge, this is achieved with the same external shape, with the same weight and the same muzzle velocity. Higher weight at the same muzzle velocity leads to a higher recoil impulse when fired and therefore imposes an unacceptably high load on the gun
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
If the projectile including the detonator is too long, this leads to an impermissibly large overall length (5) of the finished cartridge, since the cartridge sleeve length is fixed; this is because the maximum permitted cartridge length is given by the dimensions of the loading device of the tank cannon and therefore must not be exceeded.
Lowering the projectile (1) into the cartridge case (4) is not possible because of the guiding band (6) of the grenade, the diameter of which is equal to the outside diameter of the mouth of the cartridge case and which sits with its rear edge on the case mouth.
The invention is therefore based on the object of shortening the length of the existing artillery grenade including the detonator, from the trailing edge of the guide band to the detonator tip, and to lighten the weight.
The invention achieves the object in that the following measures are carried out: The weight reduction is achieved by removing the explosive 82) from the grenade (1)
EMI2.1
Remove the total length of the standard detonator (3) and replace it with a much smaller and shorter detonator of another ammunition (8) of smaller caliber with the help of an adapter A9Y.
A practice explosive grenade without an explosive charge is quite desirable and permissible, since the effect at the target is greatly reduced and shooting range facilities, such as. B. Disk pulling systems, almost not damaged. However, in order to avoid the formation of skins with a high risk to the rear area, a impact detonator with a small explosive charge (10) is required, which only separates the grenade tip together with the ogival front part and thereby effectively shreds off the projectile prevented.
The small explosive charge is advantageously housed in the detonator adapter.
The shorter detonator (8) changes the streamlined outer contour of the original combination and a shoulder is formed between the grenade body (1) and detonator (8), which is aerodynamically bridged by means of the component "hood" (11). As shooting attempts have shown, this change in shape causes a negligible deviation from the original trajectory at range range and can therefore be used.

One problem is the target signaturelessness of this adapted projectile, which means that due to the small amount of explosives (10) the detonation flash is not available at the target and the impact is therefore not observable.This task is solved by a tracer (12 ) is attached using a tracer adapter (13) or directly. This tracer is ignited in a manner known per se when fired from the gun barrel by the propellant charge, makes the trajectory of the projectile visible to the target and thereby replaces the target signature. Explosive grenades usually have no tracer
