 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  Method and device for the continuous pickling of wire
 EMI1.1

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

A decoiler (not shown) supplies the wire to be pickled and a straightening roller drive set --17-- ensures that the wire moves. In addition, a set of bending rollers - 20 - is provided in front of the treatment container - 1 - and consists essentially of an arrangement of two non-displaceable rollers - 21, 22 - and one displaceable roller - 23 -.

   The device according to the invention works in the following way: The wire 6 to be pickled, coming from the decoiler, is straightened in the straightening roller drive set --17-- and then deformed in a defined horizontal plane by the bending roller set. The wire entering the treatment tank is placed on the cylindrical part - 10 - of the rotating one
 EMI2.1
 Previous turns exerted train the just formed turn from the cylindrical to the frustoconical part - 12 - slips, which it leaves at the latest at the shoulder - 11 - and changes into a freely floating state.

   The freely floating helix thus formed by the windings is pulled upwards until it has reached a head-side guide part - 19 - of the rotary body - 7 - which carries the wire to the exit point - 5 - from the container - l - deflects. On its way through the treatment room of the container - l - the wire coil becomes the action
 EMI2.2
 is stored on a reel, not shown.

   The used treatment liquid is discharged from the container --1-- through the discharge line --14-- and, if necessary, returned to the openings --13- via a regeneration system.

   However, it is also within the scope of the invention to guide the pickling material not only from bottom to top, as described, but also from top to bottom through the pickling room. In this case, the parts - 10, 11, 12 - are provided on the head and the part - 19 - on the bottom of the rotating body - 7.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for the continuous pickling of wire in helical turns, which are passed through a treatment room and brought into contact with the treatment liquid in this, wherein the helix formed by the turns of the wire in a constant sense of rotation and at least inside or outside without support in a vertical direction the pickling room is guided, according to parent patent No. 285281, characterized in that the coil is guided freely floating through the pickling room at least on part of its circumference.
