Man erhält hellgelbe Kristalle vom F. 1580.

For the use of a lightening agent, the required amounts of the compounds of the formula I can easily be determined from case to case by means of preliminary tests. In general, amounts from 0.01 to 0.50/0, based on the material to be lightened, prove to be sufficient.
Compared to known, constitutionally closest naphthalimide compounds, such as the 4- [pyrazolyl- (l)] -naphthalimides known from Belgian patent specification No. 667 986, surprisingly clear white tones, improved lightfastnesses and a significant amount can be achieved with the new products as brighteners achieve better chlorite resistance of the brightened materials.
In the following examples, the temperature data are degrees Celsius.
Example 1: A fabric made of fibers made of polyethylene glycol terephthalate is introduced into a bath in a liquor ratio of 1:40, which contains 1.5 g oleyl sulfonate, 0.75 g formic acid, 0.1 g Nn-propyl-4- [4-methyl- v-triazolyl- (2)] naphthalimide of the formula
EMI4.1
and contains 2.0 grams of sodium chlorite; the bath is then heated to the boil over a period of 30 minutes and kept at the boiling temperature for about 45 minutes, the tissue being gently agitated in the bath. The fabric is then rinsed and dried; it then has an excellent, clear brightening.
The N-n-propyl-4- [4-methyl-v-triazolyl- (2)] -naRhthalimide used is prepared in the following way:
26.9 g (0.1 mol) of N-n-propyl-4-hydrazino-naphthalimide are heated with 9.6 g (0.11 mol) of oximinoacetone and 5 ml of glacial acetic acid in 250 ml of alcohol to 75 to 780 for 2 hours with stirring; then about half of the alcohol is distilled off under reduced pressure and the ct-oximinohydrazone formed is filtered off with suction and dried after the mixture has cooled. 31.8 g (0.094 mol) of the K-oximinohydrazone thus obtained are then dissolved in a mixture of 150 ml of dimethylformamide and 100 ml of pyridine and 14 ml of acetic anhydride are added to the solution at 300.
The temperature rises by about 100; the mixture is then heated to 80 to 850 while stirring and this temperature is maintained for a further 5 hours. When the reaction has ended, about 150 ml of solvent are distilled off under reduced pressure and the crude triazolylnaphthalimide which has precipitated is filtered off with suction. For purification, the crude product is stirred with ammonia-containing alcohol, the residue is filtered off with suction and recrystallized from ammonia-containing dimethylformamide. Light yellow crystals of 1580 ° C. are obtained.
Example 2: A fabric made of fibers made from aromatic polyesters is padded with an aqueous liquor containing 1 g of a commercially available dispersing and wetting agent, 4 g of alginate thickener and a solution of 1 g of Nn-propyl-4- [4-methyl- v-triazolyl- (2)] naphthalimide in 20 g triethanolamine. The fabric is then squeezed off to a weight increase of 10010, then dried and heated to 1900 for 1 min. The fabric treated in this way is then washed hot; compared to untreated material, it shows a clear, strong brightening of good chlorine and lightfastness.
Example 3: A fabric made of polyacrylonitrile fibers is placed in a liquor ratio 1:40 at 300 in an aqueous bath containing 1 g of oleyl sulfonate, 0.75 g of formic acid and 0.1 g of Nn-propyl- 4- [4-methyl- contains v-triazoly1- (2)] naphthalimide. The bath is then heated to 90 to 950 and held at this temperature for 45 minutes with moderate agitation of the tissue in the bath. The fabric is then rinsed and dried; it then shows a very nice clear brightening.
Example 4: A fabric made of cellulose triacetate fibers is agitated in the liquor ratio 1:40 for 90 to 950 for 30 minutes in the aqueous bath described in Example 3, then rinsed and dried. After this treatment, the textile material is extremely bright.
Instead of the Nn-propyl-4- [4-methyl-v-triazolyl- (2)] naphthalimide used in the preceding examples, N-ethyl- [4-methyl-v-triazolyl- (2) ] -naphthalimide or N-ethyl- [4-isopropyl-5-methyl-v-triazolyl- (2)] - use naphthalimide, which according to the example 1

The lightening agent used was prepared by condensing N-n-butyl-4-hydrazinonaphthalimide with oximinoacetophenone and ring closure of the obtained α-oximinohydrazone with acetic anhydride in the presence of sodium acetate. It is obtained in the form of pale yellowish crystals with a melting point of 1820.
Example 10: 100 g of polyvinyl chloride suspension polymer with a K value of 75 to 78.2 g of barium cadmium stearate. 0.5 g of a stabilizer based on dibutyltin dilaurate and 1 g of titanium dioxide (rutile) are homogenized on a hot roller at around 165 to 1700 and the resulting skin is then pressed at 150 to 1700 under a pressure of 40 to 50 kg / cm 2 to form a plate. The plate produced in this way has a slightly yellowish white tone.
0.1 g of N-ethyl-4- [4-ethyl-5-n-propyl- -v-triazolyl- (2)] naphthalimide are added to the mixture before rolling on the hot roller and the procedure is as indicated above a significantly lighter, very clear, pure and lightfast white tone is achieved that does not show any tendency to yellow.
The brightening agent used had been prepared by condensing N-ethyl-4-hydrazinonaphthalimide with 3-oximinoheptanone- (4) and ring closure of the α-oximinohydrazone obtained with acetic anhydride, in accordance with the information given in Example 1. very good wet, light and chlorite fastness.
The N-ethyl-4- [4-n-decyl-5-methyl-v-triazolyl- (2)] -naphthalimide used as a lightening agent was obtained by condensation of N-ethyl-4-hydrazinonaphthalimide with 3-oximinotridecanone ( 2) and ring closure of the α-oximinohydrazone obtained in accordance with the information given in Example 1. Light, pale yellowish crystals with a melting point of 81 to 830.
Example 12: 100 g of polypropylene granulate and 1 g of titanium dioxide (rutile) are mixed well in overhead mixers and drawn out into thin films at 210 to 2150 in a kneading screw with a slot nozzle. A white film is obtained.
If 0.1 g of Nn-butyl-4- [4-n-propyl- -5-ethyl-v-triazolyl- (2)] naphthalimide is added to the polypropylene granulate before the titanium dioxide is added and the procedure is as indicated, this gives an excellently lightened film with a very nice, pure white of good to very good lightfastness.
Said brightening agent is obtainable by condensation of N-n-butyl-4-hydrazinonaphthalimide with 3-oximinoheptanone- (4) and ring closure of the obtained α-oximinohydrazone; it is bright, almost colorless crystals with a melting point of 72 to 73.
Example 13: 100 g of a polyethylene injection molding compound are mixed in with 1 g of titanium dioxide (rutile) in overhead mixers and injected into flat plates on the injection molding machine. White injection molded parts with a slightly yellowish tint are obtained.
If 0.1 g of Nn-butyl-4- [4-methyl- - 5-isopropyl-v-triazolyl- (2)] -naphthalimide is mixed in with the polyethylene granulate together with the titanium dioxide and the procedure is as indicated above, the molded parts show a strongly brightened white with good lightfastness.
The brightening agent used was obtained by condensation of Nn-butyl-4-hydrazino-naphthalimide with 3-oximino-4-methylpentanone- (2) and ring closure of the condensation product as described in Example 1. It produces pale, almost colorless crystals with a melting point of 101 to 1020.
Example 14: 100 g of polymethacrylate granulate are injected into flat platelets on the injection molding machine. The platelets are clear and transparent with a slight gray cast.
If the polymethacrylate 0.01 to 0.02 g of the lightening agent used in Example 12 is intense, z. B. in overhead mixers mixed in, so after spraying platelets of a much clearer appearance are obtained that no longer have the gray cast.
Example 15: 100 g of polystyrene granulate are rolled with 1 g of titanium dioxide (rutile) on the hot roll at 155 to 1600 to form a skin, which is then granulated and injected on the injection molding machine at 240 to 2500 to give stepped platelets 0.5 to 3 mm thick. The result is white, completely opaque injection molded parts.

If 0.1 g of the whitening agent used in Example 10 is added to the polystyrene granulate together with the titanium dioxide and the procedure is continued as indicated above, whitened injection molded bodies of very pure white with good lightfastness and weather resistance are also obtained.

16: Alkyd resin (60% in xylene), 1.8 g of a melamine-formaldehyde condensate, 3 g of dioctyl phthalate and 3 g of castor oil were added and 0.5 g of titanium dioxide (rutile) was evenly distributed therein. With this lacquer compound, an opaque white is achieved by spreading it on.
If 0.1 g of the whitening agent used in Example 13 is added to this mixture, a considerably lighter white — a lime white — with good light and weather resistance is obtained.
Example 17: Fabrics made of polyethylene glycol terephthalate fibers, which look yellowish, are washed at 750 with a commercially available detergent that contains about 20% synthetic detergent substances, and possibly complex phosphates, sodium silicate, carboxymethyl cellulose, sodium perborate and 0.2% Nn-butyl-4- [ Contains 4-methyl-v-triazolyl- (2)] naphthalimide as a lightening agent. After rinsing and drying, the fabrics have a brilliant white appearance.
