EMI1.1

ErfindungMetallsalzes verwendet.

According to a further feature of the invention, it is particularly advantageous to add other water-soluble resins curable with heavy metal salts, such as in particular urea and / or melamine resins and the like, to the solution. like. admit.
The hydrophilizing solution according to the invention is particularly suitable for treating images produced on zinc oxide layers, but it can equally be used for any other organic or inorganic photoconductive layers that can be applied to any substrate, such as paper, plastic or metal foils.
Apart from its advantages in hydrophilizing liquid-developed images, the solution is also very suitable for hydrophilizing dry-developed electrophotographic copies.
The invention achieves a very good differentiation of the image areas from the non-image areas, particularly in the case of liquid-developed electrophotographic images, so that good adhesion of the printing ink is given and long print runs are achieved. With a zinc oxide layer on a paper carrier, for example, print runs of 50 to 1000 pieces can be obtained without the zinc oxide binder layer being damaged by the roller pressure or the adhesive effect of the printing ink in the offset machine. With the previously known methods, print runs of this size could not be achieved.
The invention also relates to a method for hydrophilizing planographic printing plates using the solutions according to the invention, which is characterized in that the fountain water is the

This process ensures that there is no need for subsequent hydrophilization during the printing process, so that a particularly high print quality is obtained. Acetone or methyl glycol is preferably used as the solvent.
If necessary, further improvements can be achieved if further water-soluble polymeric substances, such as, for example, water-soluble dextrans or cellulose ethers, are added.
Embodiments:
An image produced on an electrophotographic zinc oxide paper was developed as a liquid by treatment with commercially available liquid toners (e.g. carbon black resin dispersions in a high-boiling (approx. 185 to 210 C) hydrocarbon mixture) and the copy was then clamped in an offset printing machine, where it was removed with a sponge was treated with a hydrophilizing solution of the composition given below. The composition of the washing water for the machine and the number of prints achieved are given in the table below.
