Durch Verschiedenartigkeit des Brennstoffes oder Nachlässigkeit in der Bedienung kommt es bei Wanderrostfeuerungen häufig vor, dass sich brennbare Rückstände auf dem Abstreifer ansammeln und diesen leicht der Gefahr des Verbrennen aussetzen : ausserdem liber gelangt der auf dem Abstreifer liegende Brennstoff unausgebrannt in den Aschenfall.
Um diesen Übelstand zu vermeiden, hat man schon vorgeschlagen den Abstreifer als Rost auszubilden, so dass dem auf ihm liegenden Brennstoffe noch Luft zur Verbrennung zu- geführt wird. Derartige Nachverbrennungsroste standen entweder ganz still oder erhielten eine Schüttelbewegung durch irgendeinen Antrieb, was jedoch in keinem Falle namentlich
