<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Knife block for dry razors
Knife blocks for dry razors have become known in a wide variety of forms; The invention relates to knife blocks which are formed from individual knives fastened in a lamellar manner on carriers. The knife carriers are mostly designed as tubes or mandrels, the knife blades or lamellae have corresponding receiving devices for these carriers, that is, bores or slots open in one direction in order to enable a connection between the two.
The object of the invention is to produce a knife block that is as light as possible, but inherently rigid and torsion-resistant, from these elements in a simple manner. Attempts of this kind have already been made several times.
So the individual knife blades have been provided with deformations acting as spacers and these have been glued to the respective neighboring knife blade. Such a knife block is light because it does not require any additional knife carriers, but it is wage-intensive and therefore not particularly cheap to manufacture. Since, in addition, it is mainly the adhesive points that have to absorb the stresses, but so far it has not been possible to find an adhesive or method that can absorb the forces occurring at the adhesive points, such knife blocks were not usable.
In another method, the procedure is that the knife carriers, in this case three, are deformed at each receiving point, that is, for example, are squeezed or widened in order to provide the necessary hold with the knife blades. This type of fastening also requires several operations and is therefore expensive.
A suggestion similar to this provides thorn-like knife carriers which have annular grooves into which the individual knives are inserted from above or below; then the knife carriers are compressed in the direction of their axis so that the knives are squeezed into the ring grooves.
From this prior art, the invention uses the idea of using a deformable material, for example aluminum, for the knife carrier, but modifies it in such a way that the shape of the knife carrier is changed by the knife blades to be pushed on in such a way that they move over their after one Cut or bury open slots or recesses in the knife carrier.
In the case of a knife block for dry razors, consisting of tubular or rod-like knife carriers made of inherently rigid, inelastic, but deformable material and individual knives pushed onto them like lamellas with receiving slots open to one side for the knife carriers, the invention is characterized in that the knife carriers are in their profile are approximately adapted to that of the receiving slots of the knife blades, but have such an allowance in diameter compared to the width of the receiving slots that the knives cut into the knife carriers when they are pushed onto them.
The knives, which are made of hard, elastic material, preferably stainless steel, can be pushed individually over the knife carriers, but it is a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention when a set of knives is in a magazine
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
is detected and the knife carriers are pressed individually or together into the knife package.
Finally, the opposite way is also possible, namely to insert the knife carrier into a device provided with guides for the knife blades and to press in the knife blades. It would be possible to insert the individual knife carriers into the slots of the knives in different directions, but for manufacturing reasons it is more advantageous to let the slots of each knife blade run in one and the same direction.
Basically all are suitable as profiles for the knife holders; the circular profile is particularly suitable because a large contact surface over half the circumference is possible. Although the knives applied in this way already have a very good fit, according to a further feature of the invention, the connection points between the knife and knife carrier could additionally be glued in a manner known per se; known plastic adhesives are suitable for this.
It is customary per se to fasten the lamellar knives arranged on them at right angles to the knife carriers. In the case of the invention, too, they can be arranged in this way, but it is also possible to slide them onto the knife carriers, parallel to one another, at an angle to the knife carriers.
As a result, an even larger plant or Incision distance achieved so that the hold of the knife is an even better one. However, the shape of the slot in the knife no longer represents a semicircle. The invention is therefore always related to the incision point.
In the drawings, two of the possible embodiments of the invention are shown schematically; In all figures, the same parts have been given the same reference numerals. 1 shows a perspective view of a knife block according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows a view of the knife block from below, and FIG. 3 shows an exemplary embodiment with inclined knives.
The knife block shown in the drawings consists of blade-shaped and lamellar arranged knives - 1 - and rod-shaped knife carriers-3--; the lamellar knives - 1 - have approximately semicircular slots which are preferably open in the same direction outwards, in FIG. 1 downwards. But you can also, for. B. if the two lower slots are not arranged at the lower end of the knife but in their flanks, be open to the side. The advantage of the embodiment shown is that the knife carriers --3 - can be pressed together into all three slots of the knives in one operation using simple means when the knife block is being assembled.
The knives themselves are made of hard, but elastic material within certain limits, preferably a non-rusting chrome-nickel steel, while the rod-shaped knife carriers --3 - are made of soft but inelastic material, for example aluminum, so that the knife block forms a rigid unit .
The diameter of the knife holders --3-- is larger than the width of the open slots - 10-- so that they dig into the rod-shaped knife holders --3-- when they are pressed.
In order to be able to assemble the knives easily, they are inserted into a magazine in a manner not shown in which they are held immovably. Then the bars - 3 - are in the

is larger than the width of the slots - 10--. This can be seen in FIGS. 2 and 3.
Although this alone gives the knives a good hold, they can also be glued to the knife carriers at the connection points.
It is possible to slide the knives onto the knife carriers at right angles to them, but it is also within the meaning of the invention to arrange them at an angle to the knife carriers, as shown in FIG. 3.
