effectively used and the panels produced are characterized by good adhesion of the active material.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment and the drawings, in which FIG. 1 shows a storage battery plate according to the invention in a view and FIG. 2 shows in section.
The accumulator plate shown has a lattice -l-, which consists of a frame --2-- made of stainless steel, which carries a wire mesh --3-- made of stainless steel and with a z. B. welded exclusion flap - 4-is provided. The meshes of the net are filled with active material --5--, namely lead sponge, and a lead sponge layer of a certain thickness adheres to both sides of the net. In the case of grids designed as a wire mesh in particular, the percentage of the area per unit area of openings for receiving sponge lead is much greater than with conventional grids. Accumulators, the plates of which contain reticulated grids, can have a capacity up to twice as large as accumulators with conventional plates of the same total area.
The weight of the net-shaped grid is very small, so that such panels are also characterized by their light weight.
Numerous tests have shown that the stainless steel grid of the plates according to the invention is not subject to any corrosion when these are used as negative plates, and the like. between not only with neutral, sulphatic electrolyte, but also with normal accumulator acid and with neutral electrolyte with less than 100 sulfuric acid content.
The reasons why there is no corrosion can be as follows: In the case of a negative electrode with a grid made of stainless steel, this works under the conditions of a negative pole during both charging and discharging, so that it is not dissolved by sulfuric acid because the The potential of the iron contained in the stainless steel is less than or at most equal to the potential of the lead and therefore iron cannot go into solution. In addition, the stainless steel is covered with lead, which acts as a corrosion protection for the grid and, even as a negative pole, cannot be attacked by sulfuric acid.
The following example is given:
In one panel, the grid consisted of a mesh of 1 mm thick wire made from 18-8 stainless steel. The meshes were rectangular and 20 mm wide and 25 mm high, respectively. The paste applied to the grid filled its meshes and formed a 5 mm thick layer on each side when dry. A compound consisting of 15% PbO, 60% PbO and 25% PbSO4 has proven to be particularly recommended. The grid covered with this mass was formed as a negative electrode in a forming liquid with an amount of electricity of 10 Ah. The liquid contained 250 g of magnesium sulfate per liter and an addition of 3 g of nicotinic acid amide, which results in a much better use of the amount of electricity for formation purposes.
With a

capacity of 3.2 Ah and was used for a long time without any corrosion of the grille from sulfuric acid being detected.
