EMI1.1
The invention relates to a device for regulating the diving depth of underwater, diving and similar boats, in which water is let into ballast containers in order to make the boats sink and then driven out again by means of compressed air. This device works automatically at any desired depth to be determined in advance by means of the water pressure, in that the water contained therein is expelled by the introduction of compressed air into the ballast container and the boats rise to the surface as a result.
The present device is particularly characterized in that the valve which regulates the access of the compressed air to the ballast containers is not controlled directly by a membrane under the influence of the external water pressure, as in the known devices of this type, but by a second membrane Membrane,

Air pump 6, which is used to generate the compressed air in the container 4, can be used both with the pressure chamber o and with the chamber a; through the pipelines described above.
For the initial control, one lets compressed air flow through the pipe t either directly from the pump 6 or from the compressed air tank 4 into the chamber o until the pressure gauge v shows the desired pressure, which, however, is at the maximum depth that can be reached through the outer seawater The pressure exerted by the diaphragm e must not exceed this pressure, which bends the diaphragm d upwards, as a result of which the valve f is pressed onto its seat and thus the connection between the tubes h and i is broken and consequently pulls the valve q onto its seat so that the compressed air cannot escape from the chamber o This pressure can be regulated by setting the shut-off valve tt.
Now, with the sea valve z closed, compressed air is allowed to flow through the pipe i into the chamber r until the pressure on this side of the membrane e is equal to the pressure effect that the sea water entering through the pipe y into the space A 'determined in advance Immersion depth would exert on the membrane. At the moment of pressure equalization, the membrane e will swing back and push the valve q back. The control device is now set. In order to compensate for pressure losses due to any leaks, the shut-off valve 11 can be opened a little and thus compressed air. let enter chamber o.
The control device works as follows:
If the boat reaches such a depth that the pressure of the outer seawater on membrane e exceeds the air pressure in chamber o, membrane e is pushed inward, valve q is opened and the compressed air in chamber o is made to escape . By releasing the pressure in the chamber 0, the pressure on the diaphragm d is also relieved, the valve f is opened by the compressed air escaping from the compressed air tank 4 through the pipe h, thus establishing a direct connection between the compressed air tank 4 and the ballast tank 5. The water content of this container is driven out by the compressed air and the boat rises as a result.
The provided in the cap b small hole n is used by any
Leaks in the valve f to allow compressed air that has not penetrated into the chamber to escape, so that no pressure can arise in this chamber which would push through the membrane d and thus open the valve f. The pipe 1, which can be connected to the compressed air container 4 or to the air pump C as desired, has the purpose. to be able to check the controller with respect to the diving depth at any moment after the initial control, u. between this happens as follows:
With the sea valve z closed, valve 2 is used to enter chamber x Drn. k air enter, the pressure gauge 3 indicating the pressure prevailing in the chamber x.
Is this pressure strong enough to prevent the e in de @ on the other side of the membrane
To overcome the pressure prevailing in chamber 0, membrane c is pressed inward and valve q is opened. It is thus possible to correct and maintain the pressure in the chamber o required to compensate for an external water pressure on the outer side of the membrane e with the aid of the pressure gauges and v with the greatest accuracy zn 1, ('-, see above that the boat can sink below a certain depth.
