Verfahren zum Stranggiessen von Knüppeln
EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Der Temperaturgradient von den Kanten zu den Mitten der Flächen kann ferner verkleinert werden, indem die Kokille im Bereiche der Kanten auf der Wasserseite, beispielsweise mit einem Isoliermaterial, zur Verkleinerung des Wärmedurchganges abgedeckt wird. ;

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Process for the continuous casting of billets
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the invention is to achieve symmetrical stress states in the solidified edge zone of the billet in the mold, so that the causality of the spike edge and thus also the formation of cracks is prevented.
EMI2.1
the partial area of the mold following the bath level inevitably due to the cross-section reduction of the
The mold is guided without gaps and strongly cooled, that subsequently - the billet is guided through a second straight section of the mold and, due to the formation of a gap, is subjected to a weaker cooling opposite the mold wall, the billet finally following this second
Partial area to ensure a uniform gap formation in the axial direction is still within and / or directly outside of the mold.
Further features of the invention emerge from the following description, with schematic drawings serving to explain this description.
1 shows a part of a continuous casting plant with a mold with a partial area with strong cooling, and FIG. 2 shows a mold with two partial areas with strong cooling.
-L- denotes an intermediate vessel from which steel flows into a continuous mold - 2-cooled with water. The billet - 3 - which is produced in the mold - 2 and has a liquid core - is pulled out of the mold by pull-out rollers - 4. In one of the
Mold --2-- following strand guide --5-- is strand -3- by spraying on
Water cooled further through nozzles - 6 -.
The mold - 2 - has a partial area --11-- following the bath level --10--, in which the mold has a cross-sectional reduction due to the conical design of the mold walls. The shortening of each cross-sectional side is advantageously made somewhat larger than that
Shrinkage of the billet - 3 - in this sub-area - 11 - so that the solidified edge zone is safely guided without gaps or forced by pressure on all sides. This means that no gap can form due to the non-linear shrinkage of the billet. This pressure on all sides may only be small, however, so that the friction between the mold walls and the billet caused by pulling out the billet does not become too great. High friction results in cracks in the crust, which leads to breakthroughs or the strand being torn off.
It has been found that the shortening of each cross-sectional side in the conical part is advantageously between 0.6 and 0.8%.
Due to the lack of gap formation in the partial area, the billet lies against the mold walls over the entire circumference of the strand, i.e. H. the strand is inevitably and gaplessly guided in this sub-area of the mold immediately following the bath level due to its cross-sectional reduction. As a result, a good heat transfer is obtained between the billet surface and the mold walls, which results in strong but symmetrical cooling of the billet, i.e. H. all four edges have approximately the same temperature, and the inevitable temperature gradient from the edges to the centers of the associated surfaces is approximately the same. The stresses caused by these gradients are, however, symmetrical with respect to the center of the cross-section and cannot produce any sharp edges.
The spontaneously solidified crust is also symmetrical in its 'thickness', which means that further solidification is also symmetrical.
The temperature gradient from the edges to the centers of the surfaces can also be reduced by covering the mold in the area of the edges on the water side, for example with an insulating material, to reduce the heat transfer. ;

Would now. If this strong cooling is continued over the entire length of the mold, too great a temperature gradient would occur in the resulting crust in the direction of the solidification front, so that it would occur. would be favored by small surface nuts. It is well known that such

Cooling - connected, in which the billet is exposed to a weaker cooling, with the simultaneous omission of the guide of the billet in the mold. This weaker cooling is generated by eliminating the forced guidance or by forming a gap --13 - 'between the billet and the mold walls. To form this gap, the mold walls in sub-area-12-
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
advantageously carried out in parallel.
By increasing the cross section of the molds, the formation of gaps can also be enlarged, which leads to a further reduction in cooling. The cooling can also be weakened by changing the thermal conductivity of the mold material in the sub-area - 12 -.
It is known that the strand guide --5-- following the mold --2-- is exposed to warping as a result of the heat radiation from the billet. This warping affects the gap position in the mold, i.e. H. the size of the gaps around the circumference of the strand becomes unequal, and so does the cooling of the strand. In order to counteract this disadvantage, guide devices, for example rollers - 15 - are attached to the mold directly outside so that the billet is positively guided. But also cooling plates can take over the exact guidance of the billet in relation to the mold.
The better gap retention in the partial area - 11 - of the mold can, however, also be obtained by the measures described below according to FIG. 2. The mold - 2 '- has a shorter section --12' - for the weaker cooling than that described in FIG. 1.
EMI3.1
Thickness and strength of the crust, the same degree of deformation as in the area --11-- is no longer permitted. Too much deformation would increase the friction, which would have the disadvantages already mentioned. This backup for even gap formation can still by a further forced guidance, z. B. be supplemented by roles directly following the mold.
The sub-area --16-- is followed by another sub-area --17-- with weak cooling. However, this can also be omitted for shorter molds.
The sub-area - 16 - of the stronger cooling is not only attached because of the better gap holding, but in order to be able to increase the casting speed through additional short-term strong cooling. Since the temperature gradient of the crust in the direction of the solidification front could be reduced in the sub-area -12 'due to the weaker cooling, the stronger cooling in the area -16- can be used without the risk of inhomogeneities.
