<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Device for pulling the strand out of the mold a

Vertical continuous casting plant for metal.

Have walking beam systems from the strand and its clamping (see, for example, French Patent No. 1,161,462).
The known devices have a number of disadvantages.
In the case of the vertical continuous casting plants for metal, due to the great length of the liquid metal phase, great forces, which are generated by the ferrostatic pressure of the liquid metal column, act on the striding bar of the extraction device. Therefore, if the walking beams are made from one piece in the longitudinal direction, their cross-section must be increased significantly, which results in a significant increase in the weight of the entire apparatus for drawing the rope.
If the device for drawing the strand from the mold has two pairs of independent walking beam systems arranged one behind the other, the structure of the drive for these systems, which are supposed to work synchronously, becomes much more complicated.
In addition, the known devices for pulling the strand do not ensure that the strand is reliably held in the vertical position, since the strand shrinks during the casting process as a result of its cooling. The transverse mass of the strand is reduced, the contact of the strand with the walking beam is interrupted and the strand can slide between the latter. Therefore, additional works must be provided to hold the string.
The aim of the invention is to eliminate the drawbacks mentioned.
The invention is based on the object of creating such a device for pulling the strand out of the mold, which ensures reliable holding and pulling out of the strand and is light in weight.
This object is achieved in that the device for pulling the strand out of the mold of a vertical strand casting plant for metal has at least two walking beam systems, which grasp the strand on two opposite surfaces, and a clamping device drive for lifting the walking beam systems from the strand and clamping it According to the invention, each walking beam consists in its length of two parts which are articulated to one another, with all the lower parts of the beam of each walking beam system being cushioned in the pinching direction of the strand.
Furthermore, the side support for the lower beam parts of each walking beam system can be in the form
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
be designed by at least one roller, which rests on the lower end of the beam and serves to guide it during the up and down movement of the walking beam, the rollers of both systems being mounted on axes which are below the area of the working surfaces of the walking beams.
The lateral supports for the lower parts of each walking beam system are advantageously provided with independent drives for pushing the walking beams apart.
The joint connection of two walking beam parts can be designed in the form of a cylindrical projection on the upper beam part and a corresponding recess on the lower beam part, whereby the joint between the two beam parts with their work surfaces includes an acute angle and both beam parts are connected on the side facing away from the work surfaces by means of spring-loaded screw bolts . The invention is explained below through a description of an exemplary embodiment and with reference to the drawings; FIG. 1 shows the overall view of the device according to the invention for drawing extrudates from the mold, FIG. 2 shows a section along the line

the same device and FIG. 4 the articulated connection according to the invention of two walking beam parts.
The device for pulling the strand - 1 - (Fig. 1) from the mold - 2 - a continuous casting plant for metal contains walking beams, which in the longitudinal direction of two parts, u. between the upper parts - 3 and 3 '- and the lower parts - 4 and 4' - exist. Both parts are connected by joints 5 and 6. The walking beams capture the strand-l-on opposite surfaces and are combined into two systems. The walking beams - 3 and 4 - form one system and the walking beams - 3 'and 4' - the other system. Both systems are moved independently of each other.
The clamping device drive of the walking beam systems has crankshafts - 7 - (Fig. 2),

rest. The upper parts of the walking beam - 3 and 3 '- rest on rollers --12-- (Fig. 1), which sit on fixed axes - 13 -, with the ends of the beams in the form of cantilever arms - 14--
EMI2.3
--13-- are higher striding beam lower parts --4 and 4 '-.
The force of the springs - 19 - is chosen in such a way that the frictional force between the walking beam and the string is greater than the weight of the string, which ensures that the string can be reliably held and moved.
The sliding pieces --18-- have independent drives --20--, which are designed in the form of hydraulic cylinders and ensure that the lower parts of the walking beam --4 and 4 '- are forced apart. Adjustable stops --21-- are used to limit the stroke of the sliding pieces.
Constant contact of the walking beam with the rollers -12 and 16- as well as the rollers - with the vertical guides --11 - is ensured by springs --22--. Cam drives -23- are used to raise and lower the walking beam, the crankshafts -7- are rotated through a corresponding angle to lift the walking beam systems off the line and to clamp the latter.
The joint - 5-, which connects the upper parts-3, 3 '- and lower parts-4, 4'- of the walking beam, is in the form of the cylindrical projection - 24 - (Fig. 4) on the upper part -3 - and the corresponding recess --15-- on the lower part --4-- of the walking beam.
The parting line -26- of the walking beam forms an acute angle with its work surface -15-.
EMI2.4
Walking bar on the joint allows.
This articulated connection makes it possible, if necessary, to remove the upper part --3-- of the walking beam unhindered while leaving the lower part in place.
The device for pulling the strand - 1-- (Fig. 1) out of the Kokilee - 2-- works as follows:
Before starting work, use the adjustable stops --21-- to set the opening width

closed (lies against the strand), the other is open (the bars are pushed apart). The drive --23-- is switched on. The closed system comes down and pulls the strand - l-out. At the same time, the open system is started up. Then the strand is clamped by the other beam system, whereby the processes temporarily overlap. Now the strand is lowered with the help of the second system, while the first system is led back upwards when it is open.
When the strand enters between the walking beam lower parts - 4 and

The independent drives --20-- are used, if necessary, to slide the lower ends of the beam apart regardless of the position of the crankshafts - 7--. This is necessary, for example, when the cold strand is introduced or when the rear end of the strand - l - emerges from the walking beam.
