The invention relates to a tow bar for ski lifts, consisting of a pull rod and, at its lower end, driver arms pivotably mounted in a plane about axes perpendicular to the pulling direction, with support surfaces being provided on these for locking the same in the operating position, which in the blocking position a slidable locking device rest on opposite surfaces of the same.
The steadily increasing number of skiers brings with it the need to build ski lifts with higher transport speeds. At higher conveying speeds, however, getting on and off is more difficult for the passengers.
Proposals have therefore already been made to make it easier to get off the hanger. However, the statements based on these well-known proposals could hardly prevail in practice.
A known embodiment provides a tow bar in which the two driver arms are pivotably arranged and are fixed by a locking piece that can be displaced transversely to the driver arms. This design has disadvantages insofar as the release of the lock at the end of the journey or when getting out requires a relatively high force.
In a further known embodiment, the driver arms are pivotably mounted in such a way that, in the unloaded state, they fold forwards by about 90 to a stop on the pull rod.
However, this proposal does not bring any relief when getting out of the bracket.
Another known tow bar has a common hinge point for the driver arms, the driver arms being mutually lockable and unlocked by pulling on a rod. This proposal only provides for a locking of the two driver arms with one another, so that these driver arms are not fixed with respect to the pull rod. With this version, only a brief relief of one seat half means that the other half of the seat immediately gives way to the back or down. This configuration is therefore only suitable for single drivers, since the tow rope must be passed between the legs of the user in order to achieve an evenly distributed load on the driver arms.
The invention has now set itself the goal of eliminating the disadvantages mentioned, which is achieved in that the locking device is designed to be displaceable in the pivot plane of the driver arms by means of a translation linkage and that the support surfaces on the driver arms in the operating position based on the pulling direction of the tow bar behind them Pivot axes and are arranged approximately parallel to the direction of pull.
The embodiment according to the invention has the advantage that it is easy to operate and that only a small amount of force is required for unlocking. The arrangement of the transmission linkage provides a significant advantage over the previously known devices, since a considerable saving in space is created and thus no protruding parts on the pull rod hinder the users of the drag lift. The invention makes it possible for the locking device of the driver arms to be triggered in the pivot plane of the driver arms. Therefore only the lateral pressure on the locking device has to be overcome when the driver arms are triggered.
In the known devices, large forces are required just to hold the driver arms in the locked position, these forces of course also having to be overcome when the driver arms are triggered.

Due to the ease of use and the simple manufacturing possibility as well as the low material expenditure, the tow bar according to the invention brings a further advance in modern lift technology.
But also for the passengers an increase in convenience is achieved and getting off is made much easier.
The tow bar according to the invention brings about a considerable increase in the economy of a ski lift system set up in this way, since a significantly higher conveying speed of the ski lifts can be aimed for with the bar according to the invention.
