Die Konservierung nasser, mehliger Abfälle, als welche vorzugsweise solche der Brauereien, Spiritusbrennereien und Stärkefabrikation gemeint sind, jedoch auch andere nasse und melllige Abfallstoffe darunter zu verstehen sind. ist bisher zumeist dadurch be- wirkt worden, dass man einfach denselben den zersetzenden Wassergehalt durch Verdampfung entzog, wodurch allerdings für eine gewisse Zeit der Zersetzung so behandelter Stoffe vorgebeugt war. Allein dies galt nur für eine verhättnismässig kurze Zeit, da die meisten dieser Stoffe im getrockneten Zustande sehr hygroskopisch, daher durch mechanische Wasseraufnahme wieder der Zersetzung preisgegeben sind.
