<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The invention relates to a screening drum for a drum screening machine, optionally with at least one helix arranged on the inner lateral surface of the screening drum.
When screening longer parts containing material, especially household waste or material from a landfill site, which u. a.
Containing plastic tapes, plastic tarpaulins, cords or the like, the problem arises that such longer parts wrap the material to be screened. This causes difficulties with the discharge from the sieve drum and with the recycling of the sieve overflow. The throughput is also greatly reduced.
The object of the invention is to provide a screening drum in which the disadvantages mentioned do not occur during operation or are nevertheless substantially minimized.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that at least two inwardly projecting driver projections are arranged in the screening drum.
With the installation of driver projections, "sausage formation" as stated above is effectively prevented. The throughput is significantly increased. In addition, there is also a significant improvement in terms of clogging or relocation of the screen holes of the screen drum compared to conventional, e.g. B. only with a helix for transporting the material to be screened screening drums. This has the great advantage that cleaning work is only necessary at longer intervals.
Another feature of the invention is that the driver projections are arranged on the helix on which the driver projections are stably attached by means of screws or by welding.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
According to a further feature of the invention, it is provided that the driver projections are arranged offset in the circumferential direction of the screening drum, whereby the effect of the driver projections with regard to picking up and taking along long parts contained in the material to be screened is optimized. According to the invention, it is advantageous to arrange three driver projections, each offset by 1200 in the circumferential direction of the screening drum.
For an effective functioning of the sieving of the material to be sieved, it is fundamentally important that the driver projections pick up and take along band-like material contained in the material to be sieved and then throw it off again, so that there is no formation of a coherent, strand-like structure at the lowest point in the sieve drum , which hinders the promotion and the sieving process.
The invention further consists in that the driver projections are designed as fangs. According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the fangs are flat and are arranged essentially in a plane normal to the axis of the screening drum. According to the invention, the fangs are each provided with a cutting edge.
This design of the fangs enables a separation or comminution of long parts contained in the material to be sieved into shorter pieces in a particularly advantageous and effective manner. This increases the screening and throughput performance even further. In this regard, it is particularly advantageous according to the invention if the cutting edge, when viewed in the direction of rotation of the sieve drum, is arranged on the front of the fangs.
According to a further feature of the invention, the functionality of the screening drum is increased in that the fangs have an asymmetrical triangular shape, the cutting edge being shorter than the trailing flank and the third side coinciding with the contour of the screening drum or helix.
In the drawing, the subject of the invention is schematic
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
illustrated in more detail by means of two embodiments, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a screen drum, Fig. 2 is a detailed view of a driving projection formed as a ripping tooth, Fig. 3 is a view of the screen drum in the direction of arrow III according to Fig. 1 and Fig. 4 is a perspective Show view of another embodiment of the screening drum according to FIG. 1.
A sieve drum 1 consists of a sieve 2 having the shape of a hollow cylinder, on the inner circumferential surface 3 of which a helix 4, preferably formed from a metal band, is arranged, which extends over the entire length of the sieve drum 1. The helix 4 is used for the further transport of the material to be screened, but also gives the screening drum 1 greater stability. Such a screening drum is preferably used in mobile screening plants.
On the helix 4, as seen in the longitudinal direction of the screening drum 1, spaced apart from one another in the circumferential direction of the screening drum 1, driver projections 5, preferably designed as fangs, are mechanically fastened. The driver projections 5 projecting essentially radially inwards can be fastened to the helix 4 by means of screws or welded to it. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 3, three successive driver projections 5 are each offset by 1200 in the circumferential direction of the screening drum 1.
4, the driver projections 5 are attached directly to the inner circumferential surface 3 of the screening drum 1. In this embodiment, moreover, no helix is arranged in the sieve drum. Such a screening drum, in particular with larger dimensions, which can have not only a circular but also a polygonal cross section, is used in particular in stationary screening plants.
In the case of a sieve drum with a length of 5 m and a diameter of 1.80 m, it is expedient to install four to six driver projections or fangs 5, as shown in FIG. 1. With a longer length of the sieve drum, it goes without saying
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the number of driver projections or fangs to be installed can be increased accordingly.
The fangs 5 are flat and arranged essentially in a plane normal to the axis 6 of the screening drum 1. The fangs 5 are each provided with a cutting edge 7 which, viewed in the direction of rotation 8 of the screening drum 1, are arranged on the front of the fangs 5.
The fangs 5 have an asymmetrical triangular shape, the cutting edge 7 being shorter than the trailing flank 9 and the third side 10 coinciding with the contour of the sieve drum 1 or helix 4.
In operation, the material to be sieved is entered on the left side of the sieve drum 1 shown in FIG. 1 or FIG. 4, wherein when the sieve drum 1 rotates in the direction of rotation 8, material is transported in the direction of the arrow 11. Long parts contained in the material to be screened are captured by the driver projections 5 and taken along and then thrown off again, effectively preventing strand formation at the deepest points of the screening drum 1.
When the driver projections are designed as fangs, the long parts on the fangs contained in the material to be sieved are affected by the weight of the overlying material or by the fact that material accumulating on the mantle shell 2 falls on the fangs 5 when the sieve drum rotates, with the support of the cutting edges 7 provided on the fangs torn and crushed.
The driver projections 5 or fangs are advantageously arranged distributed over the entire length of the sieve drum 1, the driver projections 5 or fangs, viewed in the material transport direction 11, preferably to be arranged starting at least in the first quarter of the sieve drum 1.
Particularly advantageous fields of application of such screening drums are the screening of compost, domestic waste, residual waste, in particular material from a landfill site, or materials containing similar long parts.
