Membrangesteuerter Gasdruckregler

Diaphragm-controlled gas pressure regulator
The invention relates to membrane-controlled gas pressure regulators with a spring-loaded and / or weight-loaded working membrane and a protective membrane, both of which are located directly between the
The controller housing and its cover are clamped in the periphery, the protective membrane being installed on top of the working membrane.
In the known pressure regulators, the working and protective diaphragms are guided centrally by a valve stem common to them. However, the said shaft does not carry the regulating elements assigned to a single valve; moreover, the protective membrane is loosely centered on the shaft and has a breathing nozzle in the area of its centering on the shaft. In order to prevent escape through the breathing opening also arranged in the valve cover if the working diaphragm becomes leaky, a plate which then closes the breathing opening is provided on the part of the shaft protruding from the valve cover.
Furthermore, pressure regulators are known in which protective and working diaphragms are clamped peripherally between the regulator housing and its housing, but each is assigned a spindle that extends through it centrally. In addition, the previously known design requires the arrangement of a narrowly dimensioned opening in the protective membrane and this delays the regulating activity of the control organs. If the working diaphragm is leaky, the gas under pressure is released into the atmosphere via the breathing nozzle. The installation of the protective membrane is also difficult, since a loading spring is arranged between it and the working membrane.
Furthermore, valves are known in which the movement of a membrane is limited by the flat design of the housing cover. Another membrane, the stressed protective membrane, is alien to them.
It is also known in regulators to equip the working diaphragms with loading weights which divide them into two separately working surfaces. The working diaphragm will then fall down as it leaks under the influence of the load weight, but the protective diaphragm will take over the control of the regulating elements in an undesirable manner. In addition, this regulator requires a ring-shaped intermediate housing that separates the working diaphragm from the protective diaphragm.
The invention eliminates the identified shortcomings and consists in the fact that in a known manner both diaphragms are fastened centrally on a valve spindle that is common to them and carries the control elements, and the cover is designed so flat towards its center that it is there as Abutment is used for a large part of the freely oscillating part of the protective membrane in the case of a leaky working membrane, so that any regulating activity of the part of the protective membrane that still remains freely oscillating is prevented.
An embodiment of the invention shows the drawing using a pressure regulator shown in longitudinal section. The drawing shows the position of the pressurized protective membrane with the valve body then carried by it as a result of the leaky working membrane.
Between a controller housing 1 equipped with a housing connection piece 1 'and a housing cover 2, a working element loaded by a weight 7' is located on its circumference.

brane 6 and a protective membrane 8 resting on this clamped. 5 denotes a valve spindle and 4 denotes a valve body assigned to a valve seat 3. The valve spindle 5 lengthened beyond a stop 11 engages with its lengthened part through the working diaphragm 6 and structural elements 7 and 7, which stiffen it on both sides. 7 is a diaphragm plate and 7 'is the same as this projecting disc-shaped loading weight.
The part of the valve spindle 5 which is lengthened beyond the stop 11 also passes through the protective membrane 8 resting on the disk-shaped loading weight 7 ′ and a protective membrane 8 arranged thereon
Spring plate 9. The spring plate 9 serves as an abutment for a loading spring 14, which is supported with its other end in a part of the housing cover 2 which is designed to form a dome 2 ′.
10 is a guide body seated on the stop 11, and 12 is a sealing washer arranged between this and the diaphragm plate 7. The components 7, 6, 7 ′, 8, 9, 10 and 12 through which the spindle 5 passes are pressed by a nut 13 against the stop 11 and held against one another on the valve spindle 5.
15 is a nozzle-shaped opening in the housing cover 2. The opening 15 establishes the connection between the space above the protective membrane and the outside air, which ensures that the working membrane 6 ′ also works quickly with the protective membrane 8 resting on it.
It is assumed that the mode of operation of the pressure regulator is known. The drawing holds the position of the protective membrane 8 and that of the valve body 4 attached to it via the valve spindle 5 if the working membrane 6 has become leaky and shows that the protective membrane 8 has its sole purpose, gas escaping if the working membrane 6 has become leaky To prevent the nozzle 15 arranged in the cover 2 is sufficient. The protective membrane 8 remains in the position shown in the case of a leaky working membrane 6 because the force (pre-pressure) directed onto its still effective surface is smaller than the force counteracting this, which is composed of the dead weight of the movable control elements and the spring force measured for the control pressure .
