: single genes are evenly separated from each other and both lateral freedom of movement
Have freedom of movement in the longitudinal direction.
The object of the invention is the production of a loose collagen multiple thread with a group or a bundle of individual collagen single threads arranged with spaces between them so that they do not adhere to one another.
Furthermore, the invention relates to the production of a loose collagen multiple thread with a number of collagen single threads, each of which has freedom of movement with respect to all other single threads that form the multiple thread.
The invention further relates to the production of a multiple collagen thread which is suitable for weaving, knitting or braiding into porous collagen materials and tubes for surgical purposes.
It has now been found that the adhesive bonds between the individual collagen single threads can be separated and the multiple threads can be recovered in essentially the same form in which they leave the spinneret surface by isolating part of the dry bundle of single threads adhering together between two points and exercising a variable tension in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bundle. Since it is important to avoid breaking any of the collagen filaments, the tension applied must at no time exceed the elastic limit of the filaments.
The invention will now be explained in detail in conjunction with the drawing, which represents an expedient embodiment of the invention.
According to the drawing, the dry, semi-bound multiple collagen thread is fed from a supply spool 2 to a driven roller 3 and drawn around a non-driven roller 4 three or four times to prevent sliding. The half-bound multiple thread runs from the roller 3 over the fixed guide roller 5 and is converted into a loose multiple thread between this guide roller and the fixed guide roller 9. Between the rollers 5 and 9, the collagen is drawn over the rod 6, under the rod 7 and over the rod 8. The loose multiple collagen thread runs from the guide roller 9 to the rollers 3 and 4. Three loops around these rollers are sufficient to prevent sliding. The loose collagen thread from the roller 3 contacts the transverse rod 10 and is guided onto a take-up spool 11.
The three rods 6, 7 and 8, which are in frictional connection with the collagen band, can be made of porcelain and are located on a movable support 12 which is supported by a rod 13 that moves back and forth. The rod 13 is carried by the bearings 17 and 18 and is moved in the direction indicated by the arrow with the aid of the connecting rod 14 and the wheel 15 located on the axle 16. The axle 16 and the wheel 15 can be driven by a motor, not shown.
The foregoing general description is exemplary and explanatory, but does not limit the invention thereto. The method for producing a loose collagen thread results in detail from the following description and the example.
1500 parts of tendon discs are cleaned and cut to a thickness of about 0.58 mm and

Half-bonded collagen thread thus obtained is tanned with chrome, stretched and dried.
The dried, semi-bonded, 180 denier collagen thread is pinned on. The half-tied multiple thread is guided to the driven roller 3, over the freely rotating roller 5, through the to-and-fro guide rods 6, 7 and 8, around another freely rotating roller 9, a second time around the Roller 3 and drawn to the collecting roller 11.
The feed speed of the half-bound multiple thread is 0.9 m per minute and the reciprocating block 12 moves at a speed of 168 rev / min. The multiple collagen thread stored on the take-up roller was loosened evenly over its entire length.
If an untanned multiple collagen thread is desired, the tanning step according to this example can be omitted.
