PATENTANSPRÜCHE :
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung oberflächenaktiver, nichtcyclischer Xylitester von Fettsäuren, die 6 bis 30 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein niedrigerer Alkylester einer Fettsäure mit 6 - 30 Kohlenstoffatomen mit wenigstens drei Molen Xylit pro Mol des erwähnten Alkylesters in Gegenwart eines alkalischen Katalysators und in Dimethylformamid oder Dimethylsulfoxyd als Lösungsmittels umgesetzt wird, indem unter Stickstoffatmosphäre bei einem Druck von 250 bis 300 mm Hg 12 - 24 h auf 90-100 C erhitzt wird, worauf die erhaltene Reaktionsmasse mit Hexan behandelt, der nicht umgesetzte Xylit abfiltriert, das Lösungsmittel abdestilliert und der Rückstand aus einem Lösungsmittel umkristallisiert wird.

PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A process for the preparation of surface-active, non-cyclic xylitol esters of fatty acids containing 6 to 30 carbon atoms, characterized in that a lower alkyl ester of a fatty acid having 6 - 30 carbon atoms with at least three moles of xylitol per mole of said alkyl ester in the presence of an alkaline catalyst and in Dimethylformamide or dimethyl sulfoxide is reacted as a solvent by heating to 90-100 C for 12-24 hours under a nitrogen atmosphere at a pressure of 250 to 300 mm Hg, after which the reaction mass obtained is treated with hexane, the unreacted xylitol is filtered off, the solvent is distilled off and the residue is recrystallized from a solvent.
