Device for measuring or determining magnetic fields or
Magnetic field changes
The invention relates to a device for measuring or determining magnetic fields or changes in magnetic fields, which is particularly suitable for determining the approach of larger objects made of ferromagnetic material. A special application of this device is the determination of the permanent and temporary presence of motor vehicles on traffic areas as well as speed measurements of motor vehicles with the help of two such devices, which are arranged at the ends of a measuring section. This device is also suitable for rough current measurement on lines that must not be cut.
The device according to the invention is characterized by at least one magnetization winding, which is to be exposed to the magnetic field to be examined and is switched on in a branch of a flip-flop circuit, with a core made of material that is magnetized to saturation during operation with a preferably rectangular hysteresis loop, which is connected to voltage during certain switching phases of the flip-flop circuit and by delaying the switching times the flip-flop by the duration of the change in the voltage-time area on the magnetization winding, which is determined by the.
Change in magnetization from the value determined by the magnetic field to be examined to the saturation value, which influences the timing of the flip-flop circuit (the flip-flop frequency) depending on the strength of the magnetic field.
According to a further feature of the invention, two magnetizing windings are switched into the two branches of an astable flip-flop circuit and are arranged in a closed magnetic circuit that is exposed to the magnetic field to be examined and serving as a measuring probe, so that their control currents generate a ring field, while the magnetizing windings themselves are affected by the magnetic field to be examined are interspersed in the same direction.
An essentially rod-shaped laminated core made of grain-oriented nickel-iron with a recess arranged approximately in the middle, the magnetization windings being wound around the webs on both sides of the recess, is expediently used as the measuring probe. "Grain orientation" is to be understood as the orientation of the nickel-iron crystals in a certain preferred direction, which can be achieved, for example, by cold deformation of the sheets. It has proven to be advantageous here to provide the rod-shaped laminated core with a bias winding. As a result, objects made of ferromagnetic material, which are not themselves magnetized, can be detected with the aid of the device according to the invention.
In order to counter the magnetic flux entering the laminated core with as little resistance as possible at its entry points, pole shoes are arranged at the ends of the rod-shaped laminated core according to a further feature of the invention.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing. Fig. 1 shows the basic structure of a measuring probe which is to be introduced into the magnetic field to be examined. It consists in detail of a rod-shaped laminated core S, which has a recess in the middle or which is layered from U-shaped individual sheets. Two magnetization windings W1 and W2 are wound around the webs on both sides of the recess and are connected to the control voltage paths of an astable multivibrator. This is shown in the circuit diagram in Fig. 2 and essentially consists of two tran-

Reduce magnetic resistance.
The state of flux in the laminated core is therefore dependent on the external magnetic fields that act on the magnetizing windings WlundWZ. If a part of the rod-shaped sheet metal packet S is saturated by an external field, this part is no longer able to carry out a significant change in the flux state and will therefore oppose a pulse-shaped magnetization in the saturation direction with a lower inductive resistance than with a weaker external magnetic field. This results in a flip-flop frequency of the astable flip-flop that is dependent on the strength of the external magnetic field. which can be evaluated accordingly in a manner not shown.
To determine the presence of magnetizable objects which do not themselves have a magnetic field, a pre-magnetization winding V is used, which itself generates a magnetic field which is changed by these objects when they approach the probe. The external magnetic field is indicated in Fig. 1 by dashed lines and the magnetic field generated by the magnetization windings is indicated by dash-dotted lines.
