Dabei wurden grosse Stücke von gebranntem Kalk in den Ofen eingebracht. Der Ofen nahm 3000 Ampere auf und wurde laufend mit grossen Stücken bedeckt. Nach ungefähr 1 h wurde abgestellt. Beim Abbau des Ofens nach dem Auskühlen wurden 170 kg eines einwandfrei geschmolzenen Materials erhalten.

1. Verfahren zum Schmelzen von gebranntem Kalk   und/oder   Dolomit im elektrischen Lichtbogen mit Kohle- oder Graphitelektroden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein Verhältnis zwischen Spannung (Volt) und Stromstärke (Ampère) im Bereich von 1 : 5 bis 1 : 40 angewendet wird und die aufgegebenen Stücke eine Mindestgrösse von etwa 80 mm aufweisen.
