Die Platte a, z.

Device for grinding profiles and facets.
The grinding of profiles or facets in stone, metal, glass and other materials has so far been carried out by means of rotating grinding wheels made of very hard material, the effective circumferential surface of which is appropriately profiled or faceted.
The use of such grinding devices has the disadvantage that the profiles and facets of the grinding wheels soon wear out and require repeated, time-consuming and costly reworking in order to restore the original correct shape.
The object of the present invention forming grinding device eliminates this Ubolstand by the fact that in the same the profiles or facets, which are to be ground in a surface, in a disc of soft metal, for. H. lead or tin or a soft metal alloy, are incorporated, this grinding wheel during the grinding process still with one that is pressed against it and can be adjusted as required,
EMI1.1
Such a device is schematically illustrated in the drawing in a side view (Fig. 1) and front view (Fig. 2).
The plate a, e.g. B. from G! as. soft is to be provided with parallel longitudinal grooves b in the illustrated embodiment of the device, is clamped in a suitable, displaceable base c. Above it is the rotating disk d made of soft metal or a soft metal alloy. In order to compensate for the changes in shape of the circumferential grooves of the soft disk pressed against the plate a consistently and in similar parts. To give all the groove parts of the grinding wheel of the plate the correct profile over and over again, the edge of the grinding wheel d engages under pressure with a correspondingly profiled master roller f made of hard material (steel or the like).
The pressing of the mother roll f can be done continuously or by adjusting the mother roll temporarily. The roller f rotating with the grinding wheel d penetrates with its annular ribs into the grooves of the disk and gives the latter its original shape corresponding to the required profile, so that the same profile always acts on the plate to be ground.
For use, the clamped piece to be machined is moved in the opposite direction to the threatening direction of the grinding wheel, with a grinding powder, for example abrasive powder, between the grooves machined around the circumference of the grinding wheel and the workpiece. B. Emery powder is introduced.
