Plastic containers
The invention relates to a container made of plastic with a closure lid, preferably a small container for oil or other liquid filling goods. Such containers are preferably designed to be stackable.
There are known plastic containers in which the container body and bottom consist of one piece, the lid, which is usually made of thin sheet metal, with the upper edge of the container wall, after the container has been filled, is folded or plugged tightly on. The containers are usually filled and closed by machine in one continuous operation. Accordingly, the requirements for the design and dimensioning of the container and its individual parts must be observed, including: as follows:
The container must be stable enough to maintain the shape, at least in the area of the edge opening, while overcoming the effects of heavy filling.
The flexible plastic must have properties that ensure the sealing of the lid in order to avoid additional sealants.
The casing edge must withstand the mechanical effects of the lid rebate as well as the stresses caused by the occurrence of jagged formation on the lid edges, so that cracks or punctures on the plastic casing are avoided.
A non-slip stacking is desirable for many of the containers.
The durability of the closure as well as its tightness and the mechanical resistance of the container wall must have the degree of security that no leaks or damage will occur if the container falls from a certain height.
The outer boundaries of the containers must be designed in such a way that they correspond to the steering devices when using conveyor belts.
In contrast to the known containers made of plastic, for example oil cans, the container according to the teaching of the invention fully meets the requirements outlined and also has particular advantages.
According to the invention, the container body and bottom, which is mainly made of one piece, is reinforced at its upper end, so that it can withstand the mechanical effects during manufacture, filling and the stresses during the closing process and transport.
A special feature of the invention consists in the fact that the vessel jacket is reinforced in a certain area of its upper part so that it extends outwards in a wedge shape. This means that the reinforced edge part is grasped by the edge of the closure lid when the seam is folded and the plastic jacket cannot be pierced even if there are jagged formations on the edge of the cover, rather a part of the wall remains undamaged when the teeth are embedded in the jacket edge part, so that leaks are definitely excluded. The reinforced edge part also offers a raised sealing pad and thus creates an effective seal. The effect of this seal can be further increased in that, according to one embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, the closing edge part is additionally thickened in the manner of a bead.
The thickening can be dimensioned in such a way that, if desired, a plug-in cover with a flanged edge can also be used, the sealing of which is ensured without the addition of the flexible reinforced plastic edge. The plastic container thus provided with a strong beaded edge and reinforced upper edge part can also be used to hold a self-sealing push-on cover made of plastic

Find.
In cases where the thickness of the container jacket is sufficient for the intended stresses and the sealing seal, a reinforcing bead can be attached near the upper edge so that it comes to lie just below the folded edge when the lid is applied, thus providing effective protection for the part of the jacket, which is particularly at risk at this point, as well as for the
Securing the lid closure offers.
It has been shown that in the case of the known containers, damage or breakthroughs very easily occur on the vessel jacket immediately below the lid closure, for example when the
The edges of neighboring containers rub against each other or if the container is exposed to high stresses on the edge of the lid at the point of impact.
The invention further provides that an expansion or a bulge is provided on the container jacket at floor level or approximately at floor level, which compensate for the reinforced vessel jacket edge, which is desired in most cases when transporting the container on mechanical conveyor belts. The arrangement of the jacket bead can be offset against the ground in conjunction with a
Ring step make stacking the containers much easier.
As explained above, the container according to the invention can fulfill a multiple purpose, as far as this relates in particular to the use of the closure means.
Using the drawing, the invention is described in several embodiments as follows: FIGS. 1-3 show partial cross-sections through different embodiments of the plastic container according to FIG
Invention. 4-8 illustrate partial cross-sections of the container head.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, a wedge-shaped thickening 1 of the container jacket is provided on the upper edge in the region of section h. The thickening of the edge of the vessel jacket therefore runs in the lower part 2 of the vessel jacket without leaving any external features. In this embodiment, a reinforced beaded edge 3 is arranged, which forms the self-sealing abutment for a flange edge 5 of a plug-in closure cover 4. In the lower part of the container jacket there is a bulge 6, the outer boundary of which corresponds to the outer dimension of the bead 3. The bulge 6 merges into the bottom 9 of the container with an annular step 7 that enables stacking on the container 8 below. Container jacket 1, 2, 6, 7 and base 9 primarily form one part.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the thickened edge part 1 of the container wall 2 serves for the direct seam connection 10 with the lid 11, the thickened bead 3 being omitted. Near the bottom, a bead 12 serving to compensate for the protruding folded edge 10 is provided which merges into the annular step 7 of the container.
3 illustrates a cross-section through the container casing and bottom, in which an expediently designed thickening 13 of the reinforced edge of the container is arranged, which results in an improved sealing padding 14 during the seaming, as can be seen from the cross-section according to FIG is. An additional reinforcement in favor of the choice of a thinner container wall can be brought about by ribs or beads 15, as can be seen in FIG. 3, wherein the ribs can protrude outwards or inwards from the container wall 2.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 5, a reinforcing bead 16 is attached at a corresponding distance from the container edge, which, when the container edge 17 is folded with the edge of the lid 18, lies tightly against the outer folded edge and thus secures this endangered transition jacket part accordingly (FIG. 6).
Fig. 7 illustrates a cross-section through the head edge of the container in the embodiment according to FIG. 1, in which a cover 20 made of plastic and provided with an enclosing edge 21 is the
Bead 3 enclosing sealing container closure results. The sealing of the cover is additionally promoted by sealing edges 22 which are supported on the upper edge part.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 8, the reinforced upper part 1 of the vessel 2, which is wedge-shaped in cross section, is designed with its edge part to form a closing flange 23. The flange can be formed directly in the final configuration during manufacture of the container; however, depending on the manufacturing conditions, it is possible to shape it by bending it if, if necessary, vessels kept in stock are to be used in the embodiment according to the invention with a reinforced edge part. The closing flange 23 enables the use of closing foils 24, which are connected to the flange 23 in the area 25, for example by electro-pulse welding.
The plastic container according to the invention ensures, in particular when used as an oil container or oil can, a safe and inexpensive packaging that meets all the requirements of production, filling and use, with the possibility of closing it for the respective purpose

Choice of the appropriate means can be adjusted without the need for special expenditures for different arrangements.
