Gesimskonstruktion.

Cornice construction.
The subject of the present invention is a cornice construction which is intended to effectively prevent the projecting parts from tipping over and falling, particularly in the case of wide-projecting main cornices. For this purpose, plates made of concrete and reinforced with iron bars are installed below the uppermost part of the cornice. At the same time, these panels form part of the cornice, are connected to one another by brackets and attached to the underlying masonry by means of anchors, which are preferably arranged at the replacements.
The drawing shows a wall provided with such a cornice construction in FIG. 1 in section and in FIG. 2 in the view from the inner side.
On the masonry a, for example, the lower cornice parts are arranged as plaster cornices b and above them as molded stone cornices or terracotta cornices c in the usual way. On the latter, according to the invention, cornice plates d are attached, which consist of concrete, which can be made from Portland cement, slag and crisp Danube sand. For the purpose of reinforcement, these air-dried panels are reinforced with iron rods e extending lengthways through them. The uppermost, most expansive part of the cornice rests on the panels d. I: the contact pressure of which is transmitted through the plates d to the molded cornice c and thereby holds the latter in its position.
In order to effectively prevent the cornice parts d and f from tipping over and falling, the panels d are anchored at appropriate intervals, preferably at the replacements, and are interconnected by laterally arranged tongues and grooves 9. The anchoring consists of shaped irons which serve as retainers or clasps h, which extend over several plates and are held in the usual way by flat irons i. The latter are fastened by means of nails j both to the locking clasp k and in the masonry a itself, so that the anchoring is guaranteed even if the former rotates or rotates.
