  Stopfbüchsenpackung. 



   Die Erfindung betrifft eine Stopfbüchsenpackung, die aus einem einfachen, mit einem Fett getränkten Strohzopf besteht, der in folgender Weise verwendet wird. Ehe man ihn auf die entsprechende Länge   abschneidet, muss   er an den beiden Enden fest abgebunden werden, damit beim Einlegen ein Einzwängen der Halme zwischen Stopfbüchse und Brille sicher vermieden wird. Das Abbinden muss dabei so erfolgen, dass die beiden Zopfenden durch festes Umwickeln mit einer Schnur spitz enden. Dann wird der auf seine richtige Länge gebrachte Zopf in heisses Wasser getaucht und vor   dem Einlegen tüchtig eingefettet.   



  Nachdem der Strohzopfring eingelegt   nnd   die Brille fest und wiederholt nachgezogen ist, werden nach einigen Tagen noch ein oder mehrere solcher Ringe eingelegt. Zum   Einfetten   wird zweckmässig eine aus etwa   25"/o   gewöhnlicher Wagenschmiere und etwa   75%   Graphit hergestellte Masse benutzt, die bei ihrer Mischung mit dem Niederschlagwasser des Dampfes eine nur geringe Reibung zwischen Stange und Packung verursacht. Mit dieser Strohpackung wird ein gleichmässiges Verstreichen des Öles auf der Stange (im Gegensatz zu

   Ein weiterer Vorteil der neuen Packung besteht darin, dass das Stroh durch den Dampf noch fester und zäher wird und die Dichtung sowohl bei leicht als auch fest angezogener Stopfbüchse immer gleich gut und sicher erhalten wird. Ein Ausblasen der Dichtung oder   häufiges   Nachziehen der Stopfbüchse wird vermieden.
