Futtermittel
B. an Hafermehl).
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Feed
The present invention relates to a feed with a growth-promoting effect on farm animals, in particular on poultry, as well as its production method and its application.
Intensive investigations in recent years have clarified which conditions a feed must meet in terms of nutritional technology, with the focus on determining the correct ratio of proteins, carbohydrates, mineral salts and vitamins. In addition, it was also found that various growth factors play an important role. However, these growth factors are currently largely unknown. In poultry, these are factors that affect e.g. B. in fish press water, in whey, in fermentation lick stalls, in yeast, liver and egg yolk.
It has now been found that the ubiquinones of the general formula isolated from natural sources in recent years and also synthetically produced

where n denotes an integer from 1 to 9 and Y and Z each denote hydrogen or an additional carbon-carbon bond, in livestock, especially in poultry, cause an increase in growth above the normally expected growth rate when such ubiquinones together with a feed containing all essential elements. Compounds of the above general formula can e.g. B. according to the information in Helv. Chim.
Acta 41 [1958], p. 2343, 2357, and 42 [1959], p. 2616, obtained or synthesized.
The invention accordingly relates to a feed with a growth-promoting effect on farm animals, in particular on poultry, which is characterized by the addition of ubiquinones of the formula I.
A compound of the general formula I in which n is 3 and the expression in brackets is saturated is preferred. The feed according to the invention expediently consists of a mixture of a customary fattening feed (complete feed or mixed feed, which is processed e.g. with the addition of grain) with the ubiquinones mentioned, whose concentration is advantageously 1-100 mg, in particular 1-20 mg per kg feed amounts. amounts.
The feed which is suitable for promoting growth can be produced according to the invention by adding ubiquinones of the formula I to a basic feed. The ubiquinones can be added in any form, e.g. B. as a dry substance in pure form, as a dry powder embedded in a protective mass (e.g. gelatin), as an adsorbate (e.g. on oatmeal). If the ubiquinones proposed according to the invention are added to the basic feed not in pure form but in the form of premixes, these premixes can contain diluents which themselves

Have nutritional and / or growth-promoting properties. In addition, these premixes
Stabilizers such as
B. butylated hydroxytoluene or butylated hydroxyanisole to protect the active ingredients used.
According to a further embodiment, the ubii quinones proposed according to the invention can also be added by spraying an oily solution of the active ingredients onto a basic feed.
A feed obtained according to the above information can be fed as usual. In the case of poultry, it is advisable to feed them starting with hatching until they are ready for slaughter and especially in the first five weeks of the animals' life.
