B. Härte, in ihrer Einsetzbarkeit, z.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Method of sealing and consolidating geological
Formations
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Niche fillers, for example chalk, talc, barite, iron oxide, etc. are added in order to increase the viscosity of the mixture that has not yet been added in the case of great permeability of the formation or to influence the specific weight of the still liquid batch accordingly.
In addition, the mixture can be gas-forming additives such. B. sodium bicarbonate, which cause gas formation through reaction with the chlorine sulfur, in order to achieve an additional increase in volume after crosslinking.
Acid-soluble substances such as magnesium oxide, lime, chalk, etc. can also be added to the mixture, which can be removed by subsequent acid treatment and make the seal so porous that it can serve as a sand trap in the conveying formation.
Finally, fact-swelling agents can also be added for the purpose of increasing the volume.
In another embodiment of the invention, they become a crosslinked product with the group

forming reaction component, namely a di- or polyisocyanate, and an organic compound containing at least three reactive OH groups mixed with one another in a liquid
Support pressed under pressure into the formation to be sealed or consolidated.
These reaction products are more resistant to swelling in relation to petroleum hydrocarbons than the chlorosulfur reaction products. Essential for applicability is the requirement that at least one of the two components is liquid or can be brought into solution by suitable solvents or plasticizers which do not interfere with the crosslinking reaction but which can be swelled in the crosslinking product.
Castor oil is preferably used as the second component. Polyoxy compounds with at least three reactive OH groups can also be used, e.g. B. polyalcohols.
Esterification products which are prepared by reacting dicarboxylic acids with dihydric and trihydric alcohols can also serve as polyoxy compounds for the reaction with polyisocyanates.
Adipic acids, for example, can be used as dicarboxylic acids, glycol as a dihydric alcohol, and glycerol as a trihydric alcohol. The essential requirement is that the quantitative ratio of the dicarboxylic acids to the alcohols is chosen so that the esterification product has at least three free isocyanate-reactive OH groups. Commercial products of this type are z. B. under the name "Desmophen" (paint factories Bayer, Leverkusen) available.
The polyisocyanates used as crosslinkers for polyoxy compounds must have at least two isocyanate groups. Furthermore, it is advisable to use primarily liquid products for this purpose, as these are easier to process. If such crosslinkers are not liquid, the reactions can take place in suitable solvents, including in the presence of plasticizers.
In principle, the selection of the polyisocyanates to be used should be made from the point of view that the reaction leading to crosslinking can occur without the supply of heat, whereby the reaction time for crosslinking can be adjusted as required by known accelerating or retarding additives. In general, by adding acidic substances such. B. an inorganic acid that. Delay reactions, while an acceleration can take place by adding, for example, tertiary organic bases. For example, the reaction product of toluene diisocyanate with hexanetriol is suitable, the reaction expediently taking place in the presence of solvents or plasticizers.
The reaction product of castor oil (1 mole) with toluene diisocyanate (over 2 moles) is liquid and can be used in this state for a long time. In the last-mentioned case, the crosslinking reaction is expediently brought about by adding the amount of castor oil required for full crosslinking, and possibly also additional plasticizers.
By using suitable plasticizers and solvents, the properties of the crosslinking products, e.g. B. hardness, in their applicability, z. B. viscosity of the liquid premix to be crosslinked, as well as its economic efficiency can be largely influenced. Aliphatic hydrocarbons, e.g. Mineral oils, for example, can generally only be used to a very limited extent, because they can only be distributed imperfectly in the liquid, crosslinkable premix and are eliminated from the solid crosslinking product. Highly aromatic mineral oil extracts are cheaper.
Free fatty acids, in particular distilled fatty acids, and also tall oil distillates, especially those distillates with a high proportion of highly unsaturated compounds, are also suitable.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Furthermore, liquid distillates from hard coal distillation have proven to be suitable, e.g. B. Coal tar oil. Finally, ester plasticizers of various types, e.g. B. phosphates, phthalates, adipinates, etc. are used.
The requirement of such plasticizers is primarily that they are perfectly soluble in the crosslinkable, liquid premix and that they are retained in the crosslinked end product used for sealing due to their swelling capacity and not excreted.
Those plasticizers appear to be particularly suitable which are inherently immiscible with the crude oils in the formation to be sealed. which support the swelling capacity of the sealant against these crude oils. Liquid butadiene-acrylonitrile polymer can also be used for the reaction of polyoxy compounds with polyisocyanate.

pits etc. The product remains elastic and for this reason retains excellent sealing properties even with changes in the formation, such as B. can occur in dams and similar structures.
Another advantage of this material is that, due to its immiscibility with water, it can push the water in front of it when it is pressed into water-bearing layers and later, after cross-linking, it creates a secure barrier against the edge and groundwater.
