<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
An jeder Steuerkurve 38 bzw.

Method and device for the production of components consisting of a pair of longitudinal bars and cross-connectors welded between them
For the reinforcement of reinforced concrete structures and for other construction purposes, reinforcement or
Components are known which consist of a pair of parallel longitudinal bars with cross-connectors welded between them like rungs. In the reinforcement elements commercially available under the brand "bi-Stahl", the longitudinal bars are made of a steel with a high yield point, while the cross connectors are made of a steel with a lower content of alloy components that increase the yield point, in particular a lower C and / or Mn Salary, produced, etc. between. Preferably made of a soft, non-hardenable steel, which ensures a good weld.
The invention is concerned with the task of producing reinforcement or structural elements of this type in an economical manner and overcoming the difficulties that arise in the production of the welded connection in that the cross connectors are shortened when they are welded to the longitudinal bars on both sides, so that the clear longitudinal rod spacing is less than the required length of the transverse connector and the transverse connector can therefore not easily be inserted between the longitudinal bars for the purpose of welding.
The method according to the invention, which overcomes these difficulties, consists essentially in the fact that the longitudinal rods are fed to the welding location in converging directions in such a way that their mutual distance at the welding location is even greater than the clear width of the finished pair of rods, so that the respective cross connector to be welded at the welding location is inserted with play on both sides into the space between the converging longitudinal rods and is held there, and that the longitudinal rods are then pressed against the ends of the transverse connectors by welding electrodes moved from the outside on both sides and are welded to them, preferably by series spot welding, whereupon the rod pair is is advanced a division step.
This process enables the transverse connectors to be fed in unhindered without the need for a complicated machine, because the welding electrodes, in addition to the actual welding function, also have the additional function of bringing the longitudinal bars into the correct parallel position by applying pressure on both sides in preparation for the welding .
A device suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention is essentially characterized in that two converging longitudinal rod guides and a feeder for cross connectors are provided in the feed path of a series spot welding machine, the feeder path of which ends in the space between the converging feed paths for the longitudinal rods, and that the two electrodes of the welding machine can be pressed from the outside against the longitudinal rods emerging from the converging guides at the feed point of the transverse connector with a pressure sufficient to press the longitudinal rod material and for the welding.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawings using an exemplary embodiment.

1 explains the sequence of the method according to the invention on a device used to carry out this method. In this device, the two longitudinal bars 1, 1 'for the ladder-like reinforcement element, which lie in a horizontal plane, coming from straightening rollers and transport rollers, are gradually fed to the machine and thus to the welding location through guides 2, 2' in converging directions in the work cycle.
At right angles to the direction of movement of the reinforcement element, bar material 3 for transverse connectors 4 is fed step by step in the horizontal direction in a working cycle in a plane below the longitudinal bars.
The material 3 first passes straightening rollers 5 and then transport rollers 6. After passing through the rollers, the material 3 is cut to length in a cutting device 7 to form cross connectors 4, which are then pushed on in a guide 8. The cutting of the bar material takes place between a fixed knife 9 and a knife 10 moving in the work cycle. In front of the interface, the material slides through a pivotable and adjustable guide 11 which, with the help of a return spring 12, returns the bar material after each step in the transport direction.
At the welding location, a transverse connector 4 is made per work cycle with the longitudinal bars 1, l * of
EMI2.1
there is still some play between these and the cross connector. Then welding electrodes 14, 14 ', which are coaxial with the cross connector 4 to be welded, press the longitudinal rods 1, 1' in the horizontal direction while deflecting them against the ends of the cross connector 4. During the pressing together, the transformer 18 arranged in the machine housing is switched on briefly, so that the transverse connector 4 is welded in series with both longitudinal bars 1 and 1 'at the same time, the transverse connector being shortened somewhat and the longitudinal bars adopting the final clearance.
The electrodes 14, 14 'are attached to pivotable electrode support arms 15, 15' which are connected to the transformer via current bands 19, 19 'so that they can be displaced in such a way that they can be readjusted after wear. When the welding is complete, the electrode support arms 15, 15 'with the electrodes 14, 14' pivot outwards again about their pivot axes 16, 16 '; Simultaneously or subsequently, the component is converted by transport rollers 17 attached to the machine frame
EMI2.2
Division step moved on. In the position then assumed, the longitudinal rods 1, 1 'run longitudinal rods can be introduced. A new work cycle then begins with welding of the longitudinal bars and transverse connectors and subsequent indexing of the finished element by one division step.
Fig. 2 shows schematically the essential drive and control elements of a device according to the invention in elevation. A control disk 23 is keyed onto the main drive shaft 22 and carries control cams from which the movements of the feeder ram 13 and the electrode support arms 15, 15 'are controlled.
The movement of the plunger 13 is picked up from the periphery of the control disk 23, on which a roller 24 of a one-armed pick-up lever 25 runs which guides the end of the plunger 13 on an extension 26. Near its other end, the ram 13 is articulated by a link 27, which in turn is articulated to the lever end 28 of a three-armed lever 29 mounted on the machine frame. The handlebar 27 is approximately horizontal in the lowest position of the plunger 13, so that when the plunger moves upwards by pivoting the lever 29 around the lever end 28 of the three-armed lever 29, the plate-shaped head 30 of the plunger 13 is brought up against a fixed guide plate 31.
The head 30 has a recess 32 for receiving the cross connectors 4, the depth of which is slightly less than the thickness of the cross connectors, so that when the head 30 is brought up by the link 27 to the guide plate 31, the cross connector and not the head 30 ultimately respectively this fixed plate rests.
Since its head 30 can then no longer move against the guide plate during a further upward movement of the plunger 13, the three-armed lever 29 swivels against the force of an adjustable compression spring 33. The cross connector is therefore at the top dead center of the plunger movement between the plunger head and the Guide plate 31 is resiliently clamped, the cross connector being guided by a projection 34 of the guide plate 31 also on the top.
The distance between the guide plate 31 and the head 30 of the ram at the bottom dead center of its movement can be adjusted by a screw 35 which engages a lever arm of the three-armed lever 29 and thus determines the position of the lever end 28. As a result, the course of movement of the plunger 13 can be adjusted in such a way that a cross connector 4 with play between the guide plate 31 and the plunger head 30 can be inserted at the bottom dead center. Via the cylindrical ram 13
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
a spring 36 is pushed, which is supported on the one hand on the ram and on the other hand on a bracket 37 of the machine housing, so that an upward spring force acts on the ram 13 and on the roller 24 on the removal lever 25.
It is thereby achieved that at the top dead center of the slide movement the cross connector is also resiliently clamped in the vertical direction.
The tong movement of the electrode support arms 15 and 15 ′ is picked up by the side surfaces of the control disk 23, which carry symmetrically correspondingly shaped control cams 38. A roller 39 or 39 'runs off each control cam 38 or 38', which is rotatably mounted at one end of a one-armed removal lever 40 or 40 ', the other end of which can be pivoted about a stub of a shaft 41 or 41'. This shaft 41, 41 'is rotatably mounted in the housing about the axis 16 or 16' (FIG. 1) and carries an electrode support arm 15 or 15 'in a rotationally fixed manner at its upper end. An electrode lever 42 or 42 'is coupled to the removal lever 40 or 40' and is fixedly connected at one end to the shaft 41 or 41 '.
The other end of the electrode lever 42, 42 'is designed as a movable spring plate 43, 43' and is mounted under spring pressure acting horizontally towards the center of the machine, whereby the constant contact between the roller 39, 39 'and the control disc 38, 38' is ensured. The size of this spring pressure can be adjusted to different strengths by a screw spindle drive 46 with a hand wheel. This device serves to cushion the movement of the electrodes and to adjust the electrode pressure when reinforcing elements of various dimensions are produced.
When the main shaft 22 rotates, the plunger 13 is raised once per revolution, which represents a work cycle; During a work cycle, the electrode support arms 15, 15 'are also pivoted once symmetrically towards the center plane of the machine.
At the same time, the main shaft 22 expediently operates a cover plate which photoelectrically controls the welding. The drive of the moving knife 10 as well as the step-by-step advance of the longitudinal rods 1, 1 'or. of the finished reinforcement element.
The above description of the method and the device relates to a preferred embodiment of the invention which, however, allows various modifications with regard to the design and arrangement of the individual parts and also with regard to the directions of movement. For example, the transverse connectors in the converging area of the longitudinal bars can be fed to the welding location in the plane of the two longitudinal bars instead of perpendicular to this plane.
