Maulkorb für Kälber
Es ist bekannt, Kälber mit einem Maulkorb zu versehen, um einerseits zu verhindern, dass das Kalb nach der Saugzeit noch an der Kuh saugen kann und anderseits zu verhindern, dass das Kalb während der Saugzeit neben der Milch noch Futter frisst oder am eigenen Fell oder am Fell anderer Tiere leckt, weil dies das Fleisch verschlechtert.
Die das Saugen verhindernden Maulkörbe sind alle mit einem Klappdeckel versehen, der sich schliesst, wenn das Kalb den Kopf hebt, somit das Saugen an der Kuh verhindert, der sich aber öffnet, wenn das Kalb den Kopf senkt und damit das Weiden ermöglicht.
Die das Fressen und Lecken verhindernden Maulkörbe wurden bisher aus einem Drahtgeflecht gemacht, das zwar das Atmen gestattete, aber sie verhinderten nicht das Fressen und Lecken, weil das Drahtgeflecht durchlässig ist.
Gegenstand vorliegender Erfindung ist ein Maulkorb einfacher und billiger Bauweise, der sich an den Kopf des Jungkalbes gut anschmiegt und so fest hält, dass er nicht abgestreift werden kann, das Atmen ungehindert gestattet und das Fressen und Lecken sicher verhindert, wobei der Maulkorb aus einer aus Blech oder aus einem andern Material hergestellten Abdeckplatte besteht, welche in bekannter Weise zum Atmen mit Durchbrechungen versehen ist.
Erfindungsgemäss wird nun diese Abdeckplatte muldenförmig ausgebildet, so dass sie sich in passender Form um das Maulende des Kalbes schmiegt und auch mit randseitigen Durchbrechungen versehen, an welchen ein aus Draht bestehendes Schutzgeflecht befestigt ist, welches den festen Sitz des Maulkorbes am Kopf des Kalbes gewährleistet, so dass das Kalb den Maulkorb, der in bekannter Weise mit einem um denKopf des Kalbes geschlungenen Band gehalten wird, nicht abstreifen kann.
Die Figur zeigt einen solchen Maulkorb, beidemadie aus Blech oder aus einem andern Material hergestellte muldenförmige Schale ist, die zahlreiche Durchbrechungen aufweist, die das Atmen zwar gestatten, aber doch so klein sind, dass das Kalb weder fressen noch lecken kann. b ist der aus Drahtgeflecht gefertigte Teil, der in den Öffnungen c an der Schale a befestigt ist. Das Band d hält den Maulkorb in bekannter Weise am Kopf des Kalbes fest. Beim Saugen wird das Band d geöffnet und der Maulkorb abgenommen.
