Die vorliegende Erfindung behandelt eine Vorrichtung zur Herstellung von gewelltem Holzspan, bei welcher die Wellung des Spanes durch entsprechend profilierte Walzen erfolgt. Beim Eindrücken des Spanes in die Riefelung der eipen Walze greift das. harte Material der anderen Walze den Span unmittelbar an und reibt während des Eindrückens des Holzes in die Riefelung auf dem Span, so dass der Span infolge seiner Sprödigkeit schon bei der Formgebung abgesplittert und rissig werden kann. Dieser Übelstand wird gemäss vorliegender Erfindung dadurch vermieden, dass man ein Tuch gleichzeitig mit dem zu wellenden Span zwischen den Profilwalze hindurchlaufen lässt, so dass das Tuch gleichzeitig mit dem Span deformiert wird.
Die neue Wirkung, die hiedurch erreicht wird, besteht darin, dass der Span bei der Formgebung geschont wird, da das harte Material der oberen Profilwalze den Span beim Eindrücken in die Riefelung der anderen Walze nicht angreift, sondern der Druck von dem elastischen Material des Tuches auf den Span übertragen wird. Auf diese Weise wird ein Abstreifen von Holzfasern und ein Reissen der Fasern vermieden.
