Plastic weaving thread
The invention relates to a woven thread made of plastic, in particular made of polyvinyl chloride, which consists of a strip which is folded once or several times in the longitudinal direction, all the layers of the folded strip being connected by welding or gluing.
The invention is based on an earlier patent by the inventor, which relates to a weaving thread consisting of a folded strip provided with a longitudinal seam. The intended longitudinal seam gives the weaving thread a constant shape and prevents the fold from breaking up during processing in the loom, so that such a weaving thread can be processed without difficulty in automatic looms of the usual design, both for the weft and for the warp suitable is. This weaving thread enables an efficient production of various types of plastic fabrics, such as mats, carpets and the like. dgL, which are resistant and also in damp rooms, e.g. B. in bathrooms, can be used.
Despite their strength, the fabrics are elastic, physical and very light; They are also washable and dry very quickly. as they do not absorb liquids.
The invention relates to an advantageous further development of the weaving thread formed from a folded strip provided with a longitudinal seam and consists in the fact that welding or gluing points are provided for connecting the individual layers, which are arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction of the thread, optionally offset from one another and at a distance from one another which is at least equal to the width of the folded strip. The advantages of the invention compared to the embodiment with a longitudinal seam are a simplification of the manufacturing process of the weaving thread and a further increase in the softness and the physicality of the fabric made from it.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the welding or gluing points can have an elongated shape, run transversely to the longitudinal axis of the strip and preferably extend over the entire width of the folded strip. With this design, the welding or gluing points are particularly easy to manufacture and can be kept very narrow, so that they only slightly change the loose and physical properties of the folded strip without connected layers. Nevertheless, the individual layers of the strip are held together sufficiently so that the fold cannot unravel before and during processing of the weaving thread.
To form the welding points provided according to the invention, electrically heated welding rollers are used, for example, which produce welded connections between the individual layers of the folded strip at specific distances from one another. The distance between the welding points can be different from case to case, adapted to the respective requirements. By choosing larger or smaller distances, the properties of the weaving thread, in particular with regard to physical strength but also with regard to the shape, can be changed within wide limits. In order to obtain a soft and voluminous fabric, it has proven to be advantageous to select the distances between the weld points to be about five times as large as the width of the folded strip.
The breakdown of the fold is also avoided with certainty if individual welded connections should loosen partially or completely. If several welding points are arranged relatively close together, the weaving thread is given a flat shape and the fabric made from it becomes denser and stronger.
The properties of the weaving thread according to the invention and thus of the fabric made from it can also be changed in that the individual weld points arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction of the thread are offset from one another over the entire or part of the width of the strip. Welding points that have a longitudinally

Liche shape and extend over the entire width of the folded strip,
To produce adhesive bonds, for. B. an adhesive before folding the strip is applied to individual places that come to lie within the weaving thread after folding.
When the strip is folded and wound up, this creates adhesive bonds between the individual layers of the strips, which also prevent the fold from breaking up during processing of the weaving threads.
The distances between the glue points can easily be changed. The shape of the adhesive surfaces can also be selected as desired, in particular they can be elongated and extend over the entire width of the folded strip.
