Process for the preparation of 11 "12-dehydro compounds of the pregnane series Therapeutically effective 11, 12-dehydro compounds of the pregnane series. For example 11, 12-dehydro-progesterone and -deoxycorticosterone come as a result of their increased effect in comparison to the corresponding in the 11,12 position However, since the previously known processes for introducing an 11, 12 double bond in pregnane compounds give very poor yields, it has not been possible to date to introduce pregnane compounds with a double bond in the 11, 12 position into therapy.
It has now been found that 11, 12-dehydro compounds of the pregnane series can be obtained in a simple manner if, in their synthesis, pregnane compounds are used which have an oxy group in one of the positions 11 and 12 and a halogen atom in the other position, and these treated with a heavy metal of the second subgroup of the periodic table in the presence of an acid or an alcohol.
The groupings necessary for a therapeutic effect can already be present in the halohydrins used as starting materials or they can be introduced subsequently. So you can start from compounds that have double bonds, especially in the 4, 5- or i 5,6-position or other substituents, eg. B. free or functionally modified oxy or oxo groups, preferably in the 3- and 20- and optionally in the 17- and / or 21-position. A functionally modified oxy group is z.

or furancarboxylic acid esterified,) functionally modified oxo group is advantageously a ketalized oxo group, derived in particular from a dihydric alcohol, such as the ethylenedioxy group. or an enolized oxo group. The abovementioned starting materials are of any steric configuration and also include those of the so-called Nor and / or Homo series, for example 10-Nor compounds. The starting materials are known or can be prepared by known processes. In particular, they can be produced by the method according to patent specification no. 194081.
For treatment with heavy metals in accordance with the method, those of the second are particularly suitable

The invention is described in the following examples. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
