Ice cream makers for refrigerators
The invention relates to an ice cream prepared for refrigerators. There are already such devices known in which the frozen mass in one
EMI1.1
is kept moving. The same is driven by an electric motor arranged at the end of the elongated container by means of a transmission which is housed above the container in the lid of the same. These designs have various disadvantages. Only part of the floor and wall surface of the container is coated by the stirring elements, so that. grains of ice can form in the unpainted areas.
The gearbox above the container increases the overall height of the device, which is undesirable because the freezer compartments of the smaller household refrigerators are usually very low.
In addition, the weight of the electric motor lying at the end of the container makes the device unstable and unwieldy, and a special holding device is often required for the lid, which is loaded on one side.
The subject of the invention is an ice cream maker in which these disadvantages are avoided in that the ice container is annular and the motor with the gear for the stirring tools is accommodated in the cavity formed by the annular ice container.
This results in an extremely simple and stable structure with a low overall height. The paddle sweeps all areas of the bottom and the side walls of the ice cream container and keeps the entire frozen mass in constant motion, so that an optimum quality of the ice cream is achieved.
The agitator arm can be made in one or more parts. A design with two blades, one of which is the outer side wall and half of the bottom surface and the other the inner side wall and the rest of the! Bottom surface of the ice bucket. coated. The angle of incidence of the outer shovel is expediently chosen so that it pushes the frozen mass from the outside inwards, while the. second inner scoop

southwest. This results in a constant horizontal to-and-fro movement of the frozen mass, which greatly increases the quality of the ice cream produced.
In order to be able to insert and remove the agitating arm with ease, it is provided with keyhole-shaped openings, by means of which it can be hooked into the corresponding driver of the drive. The central drive of the agitator also allows the installation of a reliable shaft seal that securely seals the gear inside and outside.
The connection contacts for the device plug are located in the hollow, fixed axis in the center of the device on which the agitator drive is mounted. Since this is flat so as not to increase the overall height of the device, it is provided with a fold-up handle, with the help of which it can be easily grasped and pulled out of the device.
The ring-shaped ice container also has the advantage of a particularly large outer surface in relation to its content, which accelerates the temperature exchange and shortens the time it takes to make ice. The favorable central weight distribution makes the device particularly handy and a locking device for the lid is superfluous.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown, namely Fig. 1 shows a section through the central axis of the device, Fig. 2 shows a plan view of the device, supply line and cover removed.
In the ring-shaped ice container 1, the blades 17 and 18 of the two-armed stirring arm 2 rotate around the central axis of the device. The drive electric motor 3 is housed together with the housing 4 of the transmission gear in the cavity formed by the annular ice container 1, the height of the motor including the transmission gear not exceeding that of the ice container 1. On the axis of the electric motor 3 sits the pinion 5, which drives the gear wheel 7 arranged coaxially with the ring-shaped ice container 1 via the intermediate wheels 6. The sealing ring 8 'prevents
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
penetration of moisture into the gear unit and the escape of grease from it.
The drive plate 9 carries the coupling bolts 10 and is connected to the gear wheel 7 in a non-positive manner. The agitator arm 2 can easily be placed on and removed from these coupling bolts 10 by means of its keyhole-shaped openings.
The connection contact 12 for the electric motor 3 is located in the stationary, hollow shaft 11 on which the gear wheel 7 rotates.
The device plug 13, which is connected to the supply line 14, is plugged into this contact 22. The fold-up handle 15 attached to the device plug 13 makes it easier to pull out the plug without increasing the overall height of the device. The ice container 2 is covered with the lid 16. The slightly curved blades 17 and 18 of the agitator arm 2 brush the bottom and the two side walls of the ice container 1. They also cause the ice mass to move horizontally back and forth, since one of the paddles gives the mass the opposite direction of movement than the other . In order to prevent the ice mass from splashing upwards, it is expedient to let the angle of incidence of the blades 17 and 18 become smaller towards the top, or to provide the blades with suitable openings.
The reverse torque of the agitator arm 2 acting on the gear housing 4 can be absorbed by any anti-twist device, for example a rib provided on the gear housing 4 which engages in the inner edge of the ice container 1 or in a corresponding recess thereof.
The shape of the annular ice container 1 shown in the drawing is suitable for the production of the same from sheet metal. In the case of a cast or injection-molded design, it would be possible, for example, to also provide the cavity formed by the ring shape with a bottom. Such a design can lead to an even faster heat exchange and

lead time.
