Hearing protection devices, in particular against harmful noises
The subject of the present invention is a hearing protection device which prevents the penetration of noise into the auditory organs to a much greater extent. Such devices are specifically intended to be used as protective equipment in work rooms where noise levels threaten human health.
Ear protection devices are already known in the form of a helmet that covers the entire skull part of the head and the external auditory organs, the latter with an inflatable air cushion on the skull or in the vicinity of the external auditory organs. Even if the protective helmets designed in this way already result in a very large reduction in the effect of noise, there is still a need. between rigid helmet bodies made of metal or plastic there is a risk of stronger noise transmission.
The invention now avoids this disadvantage in that, according to its characteristic to increase the sound insulation, the rigid jacket of the helmet is designed as a double wall, the space between the two walls being evacuated to further increase the degree of insulation.
The drawing illustrates an embodiment of the hearing protection device according to the present invention. 1 and 2 show the helmet in a longitudinal section and in an end view, and FIG. 3 shows a section through the double jacket of the helmet.
The helmet 1 made of strong lightweight material z. B. as aluminum, plastic or the like, which, with the exception of the face, covers almost the entire rest of the head including the external auditory organs, has a soft seat cushion 2 made of a suitable soft material (e.g. sponge rubber or the like) on the inside. on. The free edge of the helmet and the area surrounding the external auditory organs are provided with an air cushion 3 made of soft elastic material (e.g. a rubber tube). This air cushion 3 can be inflated with air or gas in a manner known per se through a valve 4 in order to fill and close any gaps between the head and the helmet in order to achieve a good sound seal.
An increase in the acoustic resistance and thus a higher degree of sound insulation is

is provided, so that a closed space 6 remains, which can be evacuated in a suitable manner to further increase the degree of insulation.
The high degree of soundproofing of the hearing protection device according to the invention has been proven by thorough tests, which have confirmed that this protector can perfectly fulfill its task even in very noisy rooms. The advantages resulting therefrom are of major importance both in economic terms and in terms of occupational hygiene.
