Process for the production of high-speed steel composite tools
To save on high-speed steels, it has already been proposed to cover the tools on the cutting edge with plates or to attach a cutting edge to the tool shank by fusion welding.

For example, pre-machined grooves were filled with high-speed steel for this purpose and then the tool was machined in a suitable manner.

These designs have proven themselves in practice, but have the disadvantage that the tool has to be completely remodeled with considerable effort when the plate or the welded high-speed steel support is used up.

According to the invention, this disadvantage is avoided in that high-speed steel composite tools, primarily rotary knives, are manufactured in such a way that a high-speed steel support is welded on by fusion welding over a greater length of the shaft, so that the tool can be sharpened many times more often. A composite rod is thus produced which, if necessary, can be brought into the appropriate shape by forging after welding.

If the welding wire consumption is to be kept as low as possible, build-up welding is not carried out over the entire surface, but e.g. B. only in a milled longitudinal groove in the shaft, whereby the welding process as such is significantly facilitated.

A knife produced in this way can be reground until the high-speed steel support is used up; Compared to the known designs, there is no need for four to six adjustments.
