Process for the preparation of antimony alkali sulfates and antimony oxide
Sulfur antimony or Antimony metal.
According to the present invention, antimony trisulfide (sulfur antimony, crudum, antimonite), which can also be replaced by simple antimony ores and antimony metal, can be used. treated with sulfuric acid, most conveniently with concentrated, in the presence of an alkali metal sulfate or an alkali metal salt which is soluble in sulfuric acid, as well as the salts of alkaline earths soluble in sulfuric acid, mainly magnesia. The antimony trisulfid or Antimony metal with formation of an antimony alkali sulfate in solution. When it cools down, the double salt formed separates out in needle-shaped crystals.
Depending on the amount of substance used, double sets of varying composition result: the most important of these are the normal antimony alkali sulfato. By prolonged treatment of the double salt obtained with water, the same becomes through a series with removal of the sulfuric acid and the alkali metal sulfate
