Device for retensioning piston rings.
The invention relates to an adjustable lid mainly for those pistons whose interior is not accessible and which are provided with slotted, resilient lid rings. These are lifted from the inner surface of the piston groove receiving the sealing ring and held in contact with the cylinder wall on their inner side, namely opposite the annular slot, by two radially adjustable supports each arranged at a distance. If the sealing ring is worn, it can be adapted tightly to the cylindrical housing wall again by radial adjustment of the supports which can be screwed into the groove of the piston, which is not accessible from the outside.
In the drawing, a piston provided with such a seal is shown in cross section.
Each of the sealing rings c arranged in an associated circumferential groove a of the solid piston b is, as usual, slotted at one point (at d) and thereby made resilient. Inside the groove a, two bolts 9, which are arranged at a distance from one another, are screwed radially from the outside into the piston body, the rounded heads q 'of which bear against the inner surface of the associated ring c and these at two opposite to the slot point d, at a corresponding distance from one another and support points arranged symmetrically to the SchtitzsteHe, so that on the one hand a corresponding distance between the inner surface of the ring and the bottom of the groove is achieved and on the other hand the outer surface rests tightly all around on the inner wall of the housing accommodating the piston.
